Currently
the European Championship Football in Poland and Ukraine is running. And
it’s very warm outside and you gotta deal with it. Well the Metal
heads, who aren’t interested in Football, might ask themselves what
they can do. I
chose this option: Checking
out Adrenaline Mob at the
venue called Z7. The All Star group about singer Russel Allen (Symphony
X), Bass player John Moyer (Disturbed), guitar player Mike Orlando and
drum legend Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) came for one single show to the
Basel area. You
shouldn’t miss such kickass events. Who knows if they still play music
together on another day? Anyway, I was there on the right time when the
venue opened the doors. I was excited about their live performance.
“Omerta” is a kick ass record and some expectations occurred. Actually
the show should’ve started on 8:00 PM but a 15 minutes delay occurred
before support act FROZENROOM from
Basel entered the stage. They got great reviews for their debut
“Arise”. But the music sounded great live on stage and the songs
brought its vibes in the room, because the sound engine was awesome. A
surprise was also announced, because the brand new track “A beautiful
nightmare” got introduced to an audience for the first time. Singer
Alain Schwaller seemed havin’ a lot of fun, because many spectators
surprised him with head bangin’ and showin’ the devils horn. He was
overwhelmed and the brilliant guitar tunes of Chris Furrer gained much
enthusiasm. From my point of view, this was their best show ever and
I’m lookin’ forward to another show. Setlist FROZENROOM Media

entered the stage after a long break on 9:45 PM when the theme song from
the American TV show “The Sopranos” pumped out the speakers. A nice
look had the band banner with the pistol, which fires up a bullet. The
band logo reminded a little bit of above mentioned TV show, where you
see a pistol too. “Psychosane”
marked the start of an epic 75 minutes lasting concert, where everything
worked. Singer Russell Allen convinced with an outstanding vocal
performance, drummer Portnoy convinced with his technical drum skills.
Bass player John Moyer added the groovy parts and guitar player Mike
Orlando’s guitar tunes reminded of Zakk Wylde. The music is heavy and
catchy even when it ain’t new and sometimes a Disturbed touch is
audible. The
spectators went totally nutz when Mike threw his drum sticks twice into
the audience. What I also like was the chemistry in the band. The
passion, devotion and the solidarity was noticed right from the start.
You have to appreciate Russells communication with the audience. I
rarely have seen such a singer, who gets in touch with the spectators
and involves them for the show. For example he made them doin’ the
“La Ola” wave with their hands. Usually, you only see such stuff in
Football Stadiums. But
it ain’t new to him, because he had already played several times with
Symphony X at Z7. Well, John Moyer, Mike Orlando and Mike Portnoy were
here for the very first time. A dozen screams followed when the Black
Sabbath covers “The Mob Rules” and “War Pigs” got played
additionally. The “War Pigs” lyrics are easy and well known and many

that Russell Allen and his band mates bowed before the audience and left
the stage. They didn’t only fulfill the expectations! No, they
surpassed them! Hopefully, they come back soon again.

die Fussball Europameisterschaft in Polen und Ukraine. Und es ist sehr
warm draussen und man versucht damit klarzukommen. Für die Metalfans, die
nicht an Fussball interessiert sind, stellt sich die Frage was man sonst
unternehmen kann? Ich wählte aus diesem Grund die folgende Option: Das Adrenaline
Mob Konzert im Z7 in Pratteln besuchen. Die All Star Truppe um Sänger
Russell Allen (Symphony X), Bassist John Moyer Disturbed), Gitarrist Mike
Orlando und der legendäre Dream Theater Trommelwirbler Mike Portnoy kamen
für ein einziges Schweizer Konzert in die Region Basel. Solche Hammer
Bands sollte man sich nicht entgegen lassen. Wer weiss schon, ob sie
morgen noch zusammen Musik machen? Jedenfalls war ich pünktlich zur
Türöffnung vor Ort und konnte es kaum erwarten sie live zu sehen. Mit
„Omerta“ wurde ein starkes Album veröffentlicht und gewisse
Erwartungen waren auch damit verbunden. Eigentlich
hätte um 20 Uhr das Konzert beginnen sollen, aber es gab eine15-minütige
Verspätung bevor die Basler Band FROZENROOM
als Anheizer die Bühne betrat. Mit ihrem Debütalbum „Arise“ konnten
sie gute Kritiken einfahren. Aber auch live kam ihre Musik voll zur
Geltung, denn die Songs entfalteten ihre volle Wirkung wegen der
Soundanlage. Zur Überraschung wurde mit „A Beautiful Nightmare“ ein
brandneuer Song vorgestellt. Sänger Alain Schwaller hatte Freude am zahlreich erschienenen Publikum, welches ihm bei jedem Song mit headbangen oder Teufelsgabel in die Luft strecken überraschte. Er war überwältigt und auch Gitarrist Chris Furrers virtuoses Gitarrenspiel wurde begeisternd aufgenommen. Aus meiner Sicht war dies der stärkste Auftritt und ich freue mich über ein baldiges Wiedersehen. Setlist FROZENROOM Media

Mob kamen nach einem längeren Unterbruch um
21:45 Uhr nach dem Intro aus der US-amerikanischen Kult TV Serie “The
Sopranos” auf die Bühne und was ebenfalls für Begeisterung sorgte war
das Bandbanner mit der Pistole, die eine Kugel abfeuert. Ein wenig
erinnerte es an das Logo an obenerwähnte Fernsehserie wo ebenfalls eine
Pistole vorkommt. „Psychosane“
markierte den Beginn eines epischen 75-minütigen Konzertes, bei dem
wirklich alles stimmte. Sänger Russell Allen lieferte eine
aussergewöhnliche Gesangsperformance ab, die ihresgleichen sucht,
Schlagzeuger Portnoy glänzte mit seiner einzigartigen Technik. Bassist
John Moyer fügte die groovigen Parts hinzu, während Gitarrist Mike
Orlando mit seinem Gitarrenspiel an Zakk Wylde erinnerte. Auch wenn die
Musik nicht neu ist und auch gelegentlich ein Disturbed Einfluss
durchschimmert, ist sie dennoch heavy und eingängig zugleich. Die
Zuschauer tickten voll aus als Mike zweimal je einen Schlagzeugstock ins
Publikum geworfen hatte. Was ich auch
toll fand, war die Chemie in der Band. Die Leidenschaft, die Hingabe aber
auch der Zusammenhalt war praktisch von der ersten Sekunde an spürbar.
Hoch anrechnen muss man auch Sänger Russells Kommunikation mit dem
Publikum. Ich habe selten so einen Frontmann erlebt, der auf die Zuschauer
eingeht und sie mit einbezieht z.b. brachte er sie dazu mit den Händen La
Ola Wellen zu generieren. Normalerweise sieht man so was nur in
Fussballstadien. Wobei das für ihn nichts Neues ist, denn mit seiner
anderen Band Symphony X war er schon mehrmals zu Gast im Z-7. Hingegen
waren John Moyer, Mike Orlando und Mike Portnoy zum ersten Mal im Z-7. Als die Black Sabbath Cover „The Mob Rules“ und „War Pigs“ als Zugaben zum Zug gekommen waren, gab es ein Dutzend Freudeschreie. Weil der Text zu „War Pigs“ sehr einfach zu merken und dementsprechend auch bekannt ist, sangen zahlreiche Fans mit. Setlist Adrenaline Mob Psychosane Feelin

Pigs Danach verneigten sich Russell Allen und seine Bandkollegen vor dem Publikum und verliessen die Bühne. Sie hatten die Erwartungen nicht nur erfüllt, sondern übertroffen! Hoffentlich kommen sie bald wieder!
