Redemption Process

Well, another ep released, and this time, the duration reaches a full length album. A remix, three cover versions and four live tracks have been put on this cd. Well, its obsolete to discuss about outputs like this one, but its seems that this one came to the right moment, as last month vocalist Hreidmar left the band, condemning his mates to search intensively for another frontman before continuing their journey with this furious symphonic black metal formation. Anorexia Nervosa has always been a pretty productive band, so that this release is not very surprising. This  time, surely also due to the cover songs, the tempo has slowed down, so that we are allowed to know another more melodic face of the French band. Sure the live tracks, that are recorded and mixed surprisingly well,  tell another story, and this is good, because I couldn' t imagine Anorexia Nervosa going that way in a serious manner.

Since their first release in 1997 Anorexia Nervosa has built a pretty wide fan base even abroad of France, by reaching for the extreme but still remaining in a logical song structure. Like Emperor at the time of "Anthems to the welkin at dusk" but without searching for the ultimate intellectual musical challenge that makes it sometimes hard to keep the attention on a song.  The tracks are clearly divided in verse and chorus, the vocals of Hreidmar are again very characteristic for the band, I hope, that another talent can be found to take his place and fill this emptiness. The instrumentation is also very professional and as usual with a certain depth of compository skills.

I can' t give a rating to this ep, as its not a full length release . The execution of the covers is very good and interesting, so that  I can recommend "The Septemeber EP" to every fan of this talented interesting band. For the others, check the full length albums.
