Melody, violence…technique.

Italian band coming from Piemonte, Black Flame is a group  born in 1999,  which already boasts of a good musical production. This "Imperivm" is in fact their fifth album!! Without forgetting that the band has been under the protecting wings of  Forces of Satan Records, label which belongs to the famous Infernus, founder of Gorgoroth.  

In 2008  Black Flame introduces itself with this job released by Regain Records and we find this band in radiant form with 8 pieces of a Black/Death metal that is in no way inferior to more famous groups of the whole globe. Here there is no reference (fortunately!!) to those today's new sounds that populate the specialized magazines, but we are in presence of a band that expresses a way of playing metal which was really dear to  the Old Swedish scene of end of 80's and beginnings of 90's.  

We immediately clarify however that there is not any operation of "plagiarism" because the band, also taking such sonorities as a starting point, is able to customize his sound giving us speed songs alternate to rhythmical parts so much dear to the old Entombed, Dismember, Grave etc..

Besides the great abilities of the single musicians and the good inspiration that we can perceive from a really painstaking, but at the same time directed and violent, songwriting , the band can also count on a production that perfectly blends with the proposed music.  

"Chain saw" guitars grind riffs that always convince and also give us some moments of "break", thanks to sinister melodies. Excellent the performance of  guitarist / singer Cardinale Italo Martire as well as that of drummer m:A Fog (a well known personality in the scene. we already remember him for the job with Disiplin, Janus, Mortuary Drape etc..).   Sudden accelerations, detach, stop & go… melody, violence…technique. 

To find defects in this work is a really arduous enterprise. Black Flame succeeds in convincing from the beginning to the end and  gives us a really good performance. Even if all proposed songs are noteworthy, some of them detach more than other as "Lvdvs Dianae", "Requiem" or "The secret ov Lapis manalis" (with an acoustic/instrumental interlude  that remembers something of the mythical Dissection) but, I repeat, the album  is very homogeneous and it's a pleasure to listen to it, from the beginning to the end, without any difficulty. 

I recommend the purchase of this cd even blindfolded!! I always hope in a best future for the Black Flame and in a wider recognition for a band really able to produce well played and well produced convincing music.

Melodia, violenza…tecnica.

Band italiana proveniente dal Piemonte, i Black Flame sono un gruppo nato nel 1999 che vanta già un’ottima produzione musicale. Con questo “Imperivm” si tratta infatti del loro quinto album!! Senza dimenticare che la band è stata sotto le ali protettrici della Forces of Satan Records, label appartenente al notissimo Infernus, fondatore dei Gorgoroth.

Nel 2008 i Black Flame si presentano con questo loro lavoro su Regain Records e li troviamo in forma smagliante con 8 pezzi di un Black/Death metal che nulla ha da che invidiare a gruppi più famosi di tutto il globo. Qui non si sente nessun richiamo (e meno male!!) a tutti questi nuovi sound odierni che popolano i megazine specializzati, ma siamo di fronte ad una band che esprime al meglio un modo di suonare metal molto caro a quella scena old Swedish di fine anni 80 e inizi 90.

Chiariamo subito però che non c’è nessuna operazione di “plagio”, perché la band, pur prendendo spunto da tali sonorità, riesce sempre a metterci del proprio regalandoci brani tirati alternati a parti cadenzate tanto care ai vecchi Entombed, Dismember, Grave ecc..

Oltre alle grandi capacità dei singoli musicisti in azione e l’ottima ispirazione che si sente dal songwriting sempre curato ma allo stesso tempo diretto e violento, la band può anche contare su una produzione che si sposa perfettamente con la musica proposta.

Chitarre “motosega” macinano riff che convincono sempre e ci regalano anche alcuni momenti di “pausa” grazie a melodie sinistre. Ottima la prova del chitarrista/ cantante Cardinale Italo Martire nonché quella del drummer m:A Fog (personaggio abbastanza conosciuto nell’ambiente. Lo ricordiamo già al lavoro con Disiplin, Janus, Mortuary Drape ecc..). Accelerazioni improvvise, stacchi, stop & go… melodia, violenza…tecnica.

  Trovare difetti a questa prova dei nostri è veramente impresa ardua. I Black Flame riescono a convincere dall’inizio alla fine e ci regalano veramente un’ottima prova. Anche se tutti i brani proposti sono degni di nota, alcuni spiccano più di altri come “Lvdvs Dianae”, “Requiem” o “The secret ov lapis manalis” (con un intermezzo acustico/strumentale che ricorda qualcosa dei mitici Dissection) ma, ripeto, l’album è molto omogeneo e si lascia ascoltare dall’inizio alla fine senza alcuna difficoltà.

Consiglio l’acquisto di questo cd ad occhi chiusi!!

Speriamo in un futuro sempre migliore per i Black Flame e in un riconoscimento più ampio per una band veramente capace di produrre musica convincente ben suonata e ben prodotta.
