CREMATORY: "Pray"  crematory          massacre records

review  by Salvo "Lovedeath" Russo____

The return

to the feeling of "Awake"

The come back of the German band is one to be remembered…Massacre Records can rely on them while presenting its name in this begin of the year!

If compared to the previous release, Felix & Co. improve here the approach;  in my opinion the band tries to return to the feeling of “Awake” …The sound is more melodic and I notice a great Sinton behind the vocals…great vocals and great atmospheres created by the keyboard of  the dark lady Katrin., and the result is very good!

The title-track is created around a great guitar riff that  is the prelude to a valuable goth-metal anthem! This guitar riff is pure example of modern nu-gothic metal!

Good sounds for the opener “When Darkness falls” that shows the attitude to create good melodies; Between “soft goth-metal” and wild parts the band is able to be interesting for all metal and gothic listeners…

The vocals are well made thanks to the good song writing, and also the production gives value to the cd! Very good is the duet between Felix and Matthias that make a excellent work not only concerning the “Feeling” but also for the good attitude to create growl and clean parts.

There’s space also for tracks like “Sleeping Solutions” or “Just Words”  that shows a good ability to create enchanting atmospheres. The band arrange  good electronic effects supported by a great piano and great vocal lines.

The band is appreciated also for songs like “Burning Bridges” that is a very great gothic metal arranged also by intense piano parts that remind me of the best goth metal while the wild guitar riff is mixed with a very intense refrain.

One my favourite song is “Remember” that is a pure example of modern nu-gothic-metal with all perfect characteristics of a great intense song! A nu-metal riff and great keyboards support a fantastic melody. I could say…just a Crematory-song!!!

Dramatic and suffering atmospheres close this album with another good dreaming song that is “Say goodbye”…

The return of Crematory is one of those to be remembered in this begin of 2008!
