review  by Troy "Lep" Freeman____

Classic Black Metal for the doom and gloom at heart.

Grey, hailing from France. Has released the debut album "The first Shade of" since the  "My next" demo.

This album takes me back to the old school Black Metal glory days. Brooding and gloomy with the traditional Black Metal sound of grinding guitars, blast beats, and howls.

It took me a listen or two to really catch the groove of this album. The more I listened, the more I began to appreciate it.

It is very raw, and obscure. Which of course creates it's appeal. The melodic little interludes gives it a more well rounded feel, while adding to it's dark groove.

The majority of the tracks are fairly long. Anywhere from 5 to 12 minutes.
Songs of interest include track 6 Omegod , with it's doom, gloom, melodic breakdowns and blast beats, and track 8 "Hidden behind your Sufferings" , with it's straight up aggressive assault.

While not truly ground breaking, it is a pretty good album.

The break down: Classic Black metal for the doom and gloom at heart.
