Who loves Old School New York Hardcore should check out „Ready To Row“ by Insanity.
The Swiss Hardcore band
Insanity issued its
second album „Ready To Row“ on November 21, 2014. On the same date
the Lucernes performed live with Madball at Böröm Pöm Pöm venue in
Oberentfelden, Swiss Canton of Aargau, Switzerland.
The debut „No Limit“ had been issued one
year ago. Meanwhile at lot has changed for
Insanity. They could perform live on stage with
Hatebreed, Madball, Sick Of It All, Agnostic Front and Born From
Pain. Furthermore they went to Cuba to play shows in August 2014.
The Lucernes play Old School New York Hardcore on „Ready To Row“.
With the album title we go in the first round.
Here you notice Hatebreed influences and Tough Guy Image is part of
this song.
„Face Your Chance“ goes in the same direction. The message from the
song is: face your chance – you only have one life. Either you grab
the chance in your life, if you can, or you screw it and then you
can blame yourself for your situation. You only have one life!
„Never Gonna Quit“ with gangshouts ensures the desire for Violent
Dancing. Keep fightin‘ is important or you drown. People always try
to tell you what’s right or wrong! The Rhythm of
„Understand“ reminds me a little bit of Metal. The guitar tunes by
Michael Portmann and Yannick Balmer have a certain Metal touch,
because Insanity were a
Metal band before they started playin’ New York Hardcore.
„Fight“ goes off like a rocket. It’s time
to reclaim your place. The unstoppable confrontation is comin’ and
you can’t run. You feel like you want make two step dance moves,
because the snare vortex by Raphael Renggli
and guitar tunes by Michael Portmann and Yannick Balmer drive a
Hardcore fan nuts. Now it’s all or nothing! Float like a butterfly,
sting like a bee!
„Hands Up“ features guest appearances by Lucerne Rapper Luzi, Zurich
Rapper Phumaso, Thun Rappers Static Fanatic and PB (originally from
the USA) and the Mundartcore band HAK from Berne. This song reminds
of the legendary Judgment Night OST, when Rappers teamed up with
Metalbands and Rockbands to record songs together. The topic of
„Hands Up“ is about respect. Nowadays you should act respectful
instead of bein’ disrespectful and causin’ trouble.
It’s also a statement with the media and today’s society, where
everythin‘ is somehow allowed.
My highlights on „Ready To Row“ are „Never Gonna Quit“, „Fight“ and
„Hands Up“. Who loves Old School New York Hardcore from Agnostic Front, Biohazard, Cro-Mags, Madball, Sick Of It All, Pro Pain, Merauder should check out „Ready To Row“ by Insanity.

Wer auf New York Hardcore der alten Schule
steht, sollte sich „Ready To Row“ von
Insanity zulegen. Mit „Ready To
Row“ veröffentlichte die Schweizer Hardcore Band
Insanity ihr zweites
Album am 21. November 2014. Am gleichen Tag spielten die Luzerner im
Vorprogramm von Madball im Club Böröm Pöm Pöm in Oberentfelden,
Kanton Aargau, Schweiz. Ein Jahr zuvor erblickte ihr Debüt „No
Limit“ das Licht der Welt. Mittlerweile hat sich einiges bei
Insanity geändert. Sie konnten mit Hatebreed, Madball, Sick Of
It All, Agnostic Front und Born From Pain auftreten. Ausserdem waren
sie im August 2014 für eine Überseetour nach Kuba gegangen und gaben
dort Konzerte. Auf dem vorliegenden Werk „Ready To Row“
servieren uns die Luzerner, New York Hardcore der alten Schule. Mit dem Albumtitel geht es in der ersten
Runde gleich richtig los. Hier machen sich Einflüsse von Hatebreed
bemerkbar und Tough Guy Image ist angesagt. „Face Your Chance“ geht in die gleiche
Richtung. Die Aussage des Liedes ist: face your chance – you only
have one life. Entweder du ergreifst die Chance in deinem Leben,
wenn du kannst oder du vermasselst es und bist dann selber schuld an
deiner Situation. Du hast nur ein Leben! „Never Gonna Quit“ mit Gangshouts sorgt für
Lust auf Violent Dancing. Weiterkämpfen ist wichtig, sonst geht man
unter. Denn Leute werden immer versuchen euch zu belehren was Recht
und Unrecht ist! „Understand“
erinnert mich vom Rhythmus her ein wenig an Metal. Die Gitarenriffs
von Michael Portmann und Yannick Balmer weisen einen kleinen
Metaleinschlag auf. Bevor
Insanity sich dem New York Hardcore zuwandten, waren sie eine
Metalband. „Fight“ geht ab
wie Schmidts Katze. Es ist Zeit sich zu behaupten. Der Name des
Liedes ist Programm und es kommt zur unaufhaltsamen Konfrontation.
Gleich zu Beginn verspürt man die Lust auf Two Step Tanzbewegungen,
denn der Snarewirbel von Schlagzeuger Raphael Renggli
und die Gitarrenriffs von der Gitarrenfraktion Yannick Balmer &
Michael Portmann bringen einen Hardcorefan einfach zum Durchdrehen.
Jetzt heisst es alles oder nichts! Tänzeln wie ein Schmetterling und
stechen wie eine Biene! Bei „Hands Up“ sind musikalische Gäste an
Bord. Der Luzerner Rapper Luzi, der Zürcher Rapper Phumaso und die
Thuner Rapper Static Fanatic und PB (ursprünglich aus den USA) sind
auf dem Lied zu hören neben der Berner Mundartcore Band HAK. Dieses
Lied erinnert mich an den legendären Judgment Night Soundtrack aus
dem Jahr 1993 als Rapper mit Metalbands und Rockbands gemeinsam
Lieder aufnahmen. Thematisch geht es in „Hands Up“ um Respekt. In
der heutigen Zeit sollte man Respekt zeigen, anstatt sich respektlos
zu verhalten und Ärger zu machen. Es ist auch eine Abrechnung mit
den Medien und der heutigen Spassgesellschaft, in der irgendwie
alles erlaubt ist. Meine Highlights auf „Ready To Row“ sind
„Never Gonna Quit“, „Fight“ und „Hands Up“. Wer auf New York
Hardcore der alten Schule wie Agnostic Front, Biohazard, Cro-Mags,
Madball, Sick Of It All, Pro Pain, Merauder steht, sollte sich
„Ready To Row“ von Insanity
zulegen.
