EVERYBODY HAS A DIABOLIC ANGEL INSIDE |
Dalia: We are here on Summer Breeze with Bloodflowerz, a young
German band of success... Your debut album 'Diabolic Angel' has signed that you are a new bright reality in the Rock - Metal scene and your music is original, because it merge Metal, Gothic, but also there is much Rock inside, but you, how could you define your music? Tim: (laughing)... you have already mentioned the most important influences i think, there is indeed a lot of metal in it, because some of us had a metal origin when we started to play music, but we have also this Gothic and wavething which was Kirsten's influence and background when we started with the band,.... yes, i think the best description is a mix of all these styles, we try to do something new , and if you like it , it is cool for us..... i think, that discribe in the best way the music we play... Dalia: It's always difficult to label a musical creation Tim: Yeah, we also get lots of reviews in magazines and radio stations they give us a description of our music, and we say 'wow, we never heard that before' .. some of them compaire us with other bands, which has nothing to do with what we are doing, .... there is a lot of variety in all that ... so i think we are on the right way... Dalia: Which are the bands you like the most, and from which you maybe have taken some influences if there are any... Tim: Oh, it's very hard to describe and find out all the bands, for me personally, i'm a kid of the metal scene, i used to be into Slayer, the new Deftones... for Kirsten it is probably different, maybe she describes her own background.... Kirsten: Well.. i think that nobody will say that only one or two band are the influences, because it's such a wide field, ... everything we heard in our youth now influences ourselves a little bit... always.., and i listen to a lot of bands.... there was a time i liked The Cure most,.... that's something what changes.. and everything is important for us Dalia: Another question for you Kirsten, i personally find that you are a cool vocalist, because your voice can be agressive but also melodic, so who is the diabolic angel in question... you? (Tim is laughing) Kirsten: Everybody has a diabolic angel inside, i think with the vocals i try to do this concept we have with the band, there are both sides, the light side and the dark side, and the 'Diabolic Angel ' is the best description, and also with the vocals, sometimes agressive, life is agressive and sometimes life is beautyful, and so i try to communicate these emotions with my vocals Dalia: How do you see the female role in the Rock - Metal scene? Kirsten: Oh, it depends, i think ten years ago there was very few women..... Dalia: ... there where few opportunities for women... Tim: There where just a few women successfull, i think in the last five years there came into the scene a lot of women and they were successfull, and that's quiet good, because i think women have a different interpretation of metal music, and it's very intresting, certain women come out with new songs and say ' eaaah... rock it out' and Kirsten is not, and we fix it anyway, it is another thrill... and these festivals, more and more women come to these shows and they say ' oh wow, we like this music too', 10 years ago it was 90 % men, and they were moshing and banging and all these things, and the girls and women were in the back asking 'why is this so hard' but today they are coming, and so i think it'ss very important. Dalia: Another strong point of your music is the rythm section, there is a cool rythm inside your music, do you agree? Tim: Definitely (laughing) JoJo: (laughing) ... it's very important too... Tim: It was one of the first things when we came up with the band and we talked about the music we want to do, what are our influences and that kind of things, and as usual Markus and me we were the metal kids from the band and we were always very rythmic and hard and we said we want to keep all the good things of the backgrounds we have and we didn't want to change anything, we have female vocals, very melodic , very emotional, but we have also people in the band they say ' we want to kick ass, play hard riffs and cool grooves', and we are realy thankful that you ask that, it was something we want to achieve. Dalia: i personally love so much your song Lovesick, ... fantastic..., but which is your beloved song? Tim: I think it is different for every member of the band..... Kirsten: ... it depends of the situation, because every song has a meaning, and one time i agree with the feelings or emotion of one song and the other time i run more for another song it depends of the emotion one is feeling in that moment , it dipends of the mood. Dalia: How do you see the underground scene in Germany and which was your previous experiences in music Tim: We did it the hard way, when we started we played in youth hostels with 20 people in front of the stage, and we did this for five years, no money, just a few beers and something to eat, but fortunately it changed a bit, we are playing all these cool festivals at the moment and that's good for us....., the underground scene is changed a little bit but it is still lifely... Kirsten: There are still a lot of fans, not that much you can have if you are famous, but they are still there and there are lots of young bands, it's cool.. Jojo: We came out of this scene and we made music in different bands for about ten years in this scene and we played together in this scene for a long time, we come from this scene.... Tim: And it's still very important for us to be routed in this underground scene because these are the people they stay with you, ... if they like you the come to the small shows and tell you 'that was cool' and they come to this big shows and say 'wow, even cooler' , so.. i think you can't come up with this kind of music and play in front of tenthousend people they never heard you.... so its very good to have this scene..... Dalia: Which are your expectations and impressions from this Summer Breeze? ... from the audience.... Tim: I think its very good,.. it's very good, with this size of the area its still a very familiar atmosphere.... it's not like.. we are the stars and you are the people... and you can meet all this people. About the expectations ... its ROCKIN' THE HOUSE (laughing) Dalia: What are your projects for the future? Tim: We are writing new songs, and we are going to do some rehearsals at the end of the year, and we think to go to the studio about in genuary. The festival season is going to end for us, we have another one or two shows and then we are going back and do some new songs which is very important for us now, using all the influences we got this year and put them in the new songs Dalia: One of your song has as title 'One Second', me as very big fan of Paradise Lost... (all are laughing) i immediatly noticed this, ... do you like Paradise Lost? Kirsten: yeah! ;)) (all are laughing again) but this title we gave to this song because it was the best title for this song , and not because of the fact we like Paradise Lost. Dalia: How important is for you fitness? Tim: Fitness? (laughing) Kirsten: Oh.. on stage fitness is very important, but its hard because we dont have that much time while we are on tour, but when we are at home we take this argument very seriously Jojo: ... see us on stage and you will see that we are very fit and we need to be fit..... Dalia: the last question is the typical last gryphonmetal question, i call it the game of the tower....., there is a very high tower and on this tower three bands are waiting for you and you can save only one, the other two you have to push down to let them fall... for you on the tower are waiting : Nightwish, Lacuna Coil and Die Happy... Kirsten: no... that's no question for me.. (Tim is laughing like hell) (all are starting to laugh) Kirsten: ..Lacuna Coil... Jojo: for me too... Tim: I would push down the boys and save the girls... is that ok for you? (all are laughing) Dalia: intresting answer... thank you a lot guys! |
