FOR ME WAR IS NEVER A SOLUTION
Dalia: My first question is an obvious one. You have played on the Summer Breeze festival recently, what are your impressions about

V.O. : Well, i remember that it was extremely hot, and a extrem early time we had to play, and when we arrived around 11:00 Am we really thought that lots of people were still on the camping or at the near lake and nobody will come to our show.... , but when we started to play there was a lot of people coming to support us and that was realy great, and the organization was great as well, it was a honour for us to play there, becouse we didn't do that much shows in Germany during the past two years....
It was cool to play there!

Dalia: You will play on 14th september on the Fuck the Flut benefiz open air in Germany, which is a festival dedicated to the victims of the recent flood happened in Germany and i suppose that it is important for you to give your contribution...

V.O. : Yeah of corse, i think it's realy great to get the opportunity to do something good with music, and not only entertaining, i hope that this festival will get in a lot of money for the victims. A quarter of our band is German , so we have roots there as well, and i think it's cool for the people to such a big amount of bands for just 28 Euro.
I think the reason why we play there is that Inga, my wife was talking with Sabina of Holy Moses about our actual situation, that we are looking for a label at the moment and that we maybe register our next album by ourselves, and then she had the idea that we could play there. Holy Moses was the first band which signed to play there.....

Inga: The organization of the festival is made from the Holy Moses booking agency, and they were victims of the flut as well and that's why they do it.

V.O. : ... but they don't do it only for themselves, but for all the people involved

Inga: ...yeah, the money they get with this festival will be used for all the victims, and not only for that agency...

Dalia: What do you fear the most, natural disaster or wars

V.O. : I think war is worse, because natural disasters are things they happen, and you can do anything against, and there is no purpose behind it, but wars is simply when people want to kill other people with purpose.... i don't get the idea behind such things, because for me war is never a solution

Dalia: You have  mentioned something about  your next album, so it will come out this winter ....

V.O. :Ah, no, i think it will be mid - end of january, because we still have to check out a lot of things. We have at the moment a distribuition in Germany and here in Switzerland we have Musikvertrieb, but we also have to find a distribution in Austria and maybe the other countries in Europe. The other thing is the financial question. I have some people in the back who want to spend money for it...... I would say it like this, if a company is coming with a good offer we will do it, but we are really proud of the new album, so we don't  through it away with a small label which no power to do something, and as long as we can do it by ourselves we will do it. We have our own studio now and we have the possibility to record, mix and master the whole album.

Dalia: You have put on your website a song which would be included in the upcoming album...

V.O. : .... Ah!, you already heard it?...

Dalia: Yes, sure...

V.O. : ..cool..., so the site is online now, i didn't know that....

Inga: ... since today.....

V.O. : ... so you are probably the first persons who heard that song.....

Dalia: ...cool! Under the musical point of view, there is some Metallica influences in this song, but not only, it is much more complicated and heavyer. So, under the musical point of view how would you describe your next album?

V.O. : Thats quiet difficoult, i mean, i dont know if you know our last five albums, because every album is different from the other, and the new one is kind like, put the other five together and get one out of it, and thats the new album. We also put a touch of Rock'n Roll style in it, you know, some kind of Stone Rock, but we have also faster songs , but we dont want to play only fast songs. We have really different styles on the album, we have Thrash Metal songs like Testament or Exodus, and then we also have some Stoner Rock and songs like Kiss or Clutch... you will hear it when you hear the record.

Dalia: You have mentioned Kiss. In your last album you have a cover from Kiss...

V.O. : .. yeah, War Machine....

Dalia: ... i just wonder, why Kiss...

Franky: ... we are Kiss fans....

V.O. : Oh, when i was eleven years old ,my aunt took me to my first concert, and it was Kiss and Iron Maiden at Basel, in my home town.

Franky: ... me too...

V.O. : ..first time i saw Kiss, was in television the Live in Japan, and i was like mesmerized, something like ..Oh, God came down and plays guitar, and i mean right now it's more like a big f***ing comedy show what they doing right now, but i'm an alltime fan and i still want to know what goes with this People. I think they did great songs and they have a realy good sense for writing.

Inga: ... same as Brian Adams, War Machine was written by John Simmons and Brian Adams....

V.O. : Brian Adams did War Machine, what a surprise ...... we found it out afterwards...so actually we did a cover from Brian Adams too, .... god!, dont write that please...!

Stefan: ... poor boys, how deep u fall..... (all are laughing)

(Inga starts to sing "...how deep can you fall...)

V.O. : ... our drummer is also a big Kiss fan....

Dalia: Ok, your next dates in Switzerland are Basel, Friebourg and Glarus, but which are your future projects, do you think about a larger tour and is there a possibility of a date in Ticino?

V.O. : Ticino would be great, but we don't know if we have fans there. We never played in Ticino, and we never got an offer from there to go there, and i do the booking for Switzerland myself so, if anyone is interested he just has to call us or send me an e-mail.
About a larger tour, we don't think about it , because we all have full time jobs, and me myself have two kids, and for that we can't tour for two months without earning some money , and we are not that big to earn enough just by touring, but if there is a possibility to make some kind of two week tour in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy, that would be great, but i think first we have to release the new album, after we will see.

Dalia: If you have the possibility to play in a church and in a school, where would you prefer to play?

V.O. : In a school, i mean, a church is from the architecture point of view much more impressive than a school, but in a school are a lot of young people.

Franky: ..and playing in a church is very difficult from the sound technical point. The audio situation in a church is very difficult, and moreover, Heavy Metal in Church... Hmmmm

Stefan: ... well that already happens, i got the priest, from the town we lived in Italy, to play Nothing else Matters during the Christmas Mess......

V.O. : ... Seek and Destroy would be better......!!

(all are laughing)

Inga: ... do you know the story about Toten Hosen? They played once in a church and after the concert, the priest had to reconsecrate the church

(all are laughing again)

Dalia: Ok, back to the interview. Whom do you prefer, an intollerant Honest or a tollerant Lier?

V.O.: Well, .... hmmmm.... i think a tollerant lier, because i think a person who says from himself that he is honest with everybody is a lier. How you can define if it's a lie or just maybe you forgot something or say something just to get your peace, but intollerance is a really bad thing..... both sucks, but the  intollerant one sucks much more

Dalia: Which is your pupose, to make people angry or to make people think?

V.O. : Of corse to make people think, and on the other hand, i think when people come to a show from us and hear that aggressive music and can scream and jump around and make stage diving and stuff, i think it's a way to get rid of the aggression, and it's better than go somewhere and start to beat themselves or worse, .....to kill someone......
so i think it's better to go to a Hardcore show and get rid of the aggressions there with having fun.

Dalia: Ok, we are at the last question, our typical Gryphonmetal last question.......
There is a very high tower, and on this tower there are three bands waiting for you, and you have to push down two of them saving just one. For you the three bands are Lacuna Coil, Lacrimosa and Tristania.

V.O. : That's easy for me, i would save Lacuna Coil, because i should have  done a tour with them as guitar player. they had probs that time with the guitar player and Century Media, our label at that time, asked me to fill the the place for the rest of the tour and i was there for one gig, and i heard the whole album, but it was too chaotic to do that, and i came back from my own tour and i was really exsausted and it was better for them to find someone who's really good in clean guitar picking , because they wanted to replace the whole record with 4 clean guitars and 2 distorced guitars with just one guitar, and i said, no way, i cant do that, but i really like the band, and they are nice people.

Franky: Even me i would save Lacuna Coil. I have seen them live last year at the Metal Days and they did a good job

Dalia: thank you so much guys !
