EVERYTHING IS DONE BY EMOTION AND FOR EMOTION
Dalia: So we are here together with Tarja and Tuomas from Nightwish, no more presentation needed i think, first question is , which are your impressions about Summer Breeze, and do you like to play on festivals, open airs like this?

Tuomas: Well, i personally prefer clubs to be honest, because it is not a very intimate feeling to play on a festivals, the people seem to be like a kilometer far away, but summer breeze seems to be nice, kind of small enough festival, this is the kind of festival i like to play

Tarja: ...but so far so good, i havent seen around yet, we came here early in the morning, and we were just messing around, but it's a hot day today, very fine weather for a festival

Dalia: Is it correct that you , Tarja, will have a break in the next future to go on with your studies in music?

Tarja: Yeah, i alredy lived in Germany for one year and i have to continue my studies for two more years and next year, 2003, will be a break with Nightwish.... that doesn't mean that people really totally forget us, ...if everything goes ok we are going to make some concerts, maybe bigger festivals or something, but there will be nothing like a tour, and we think that we have deserved that, because always on tour and making albums... all the time going on ...so i think that its not so catastrofic to have  one year break.....

Dalia: And you are studying in Germany ...

Tarja: ....yes...

Dalia: .... at Karlsruhe...

Tarja: ... yes...

Dalia: How do you find it there?

Tarja: Very nice

Dalia: How many person do you meet in the street which recognize you?

Tarja: ... they are getting to understand, but it's not such a big city, but no problems... i like that city really a lot...

Dalia: Which is your favorite opera composer?

Taria: i think Puccini

Dalia: ... my one too... La Bohème, Turandot....

Taria: ... very good...

Dalia: So, mastermind Tuomas and the rest of the band have just released the album Century Child which is so brilliant that we are.. just my opinion, but i think not only mine, .... we are near to a masterpiece... and though its not a concept album, me thinks, that there is a kind of general inspiration which run through the tracks...

Tuomas: Right, that was something that was never planned, and its definitely not a concept album, there is no story running through the songs of this album, but i would say that the songs deal with the same theme or at least touch the theme in one way or another so in that way it could be considered some kind of concept album.

Dalia: And which is the song of the new album u like to play most live?

Tuomas: Slaying the dreamer...

Tarja: Yeah! i agree!

Dalia: Bless the Child is a fantastic opener, but there are many tracks which sounds rather heavier, so... are Nightwish becoming heavier than before?... could it be a possible beginning of an evolution?

Tuomas: Yes, who knows, with this album we did a small step towards a harder direction, but who knows what will be in the future.. maybe harder maybe lighter.

Dalia: we of the magazines and webzines are really boring, because we are making questions over questions, but which question would you like to make to yourself, if you would ask something to yourself.........

Tarja: ..thats a very hard one...

Abs: (comments: good question , next one please)

(all are laughing)

Tuomas: ... give us a few minutes, we have to think about it..

but we come back to that...

Dalia:..it's a promise? hehehehehe....

Tuomas: ..yeah, sure....

Dalia: Öhhh! (for sure!!)

Dalia: You have recorded this album together with an orchestra, was it a cool experience?

Tuomas: Well, it was like an experiment, we hadn't worked with an orchestra before, but many metal band have done it , so i just want to find out what it's like and if it is realy worth it, and it was a very nice experience ... everything went realy smoothly and we got pretty much the sound we desired... so, .... very nice....

Dalia: which thing is leading you the most, your heart or your brain?

Tuomas: Definitely the heart, ... i mean, everything is done by emotion and for emotion,... from the emotion, we never think too much about what we are doing, just doing everything from the heart, that's the whole idea doing Nightwish music..

Dalia: Do you think the same way Tarja?

Taria: Yes...

Dalia: I have read in a magazine that you were say that in the band there are four beasts and one beauty, and it's rather normal that the media is much more attracted to  the beauty and not of the rest of the band, if we consider that the rest of the band are the beasts.....
what's your comment about that?

Tuomas:Hmm.., that's a natural thing i mean..., but it's the truth, there is one beauty and four beasts in the band, but everybody knows that it takes five persons to do this band and everybody have a significant matter in the band , so i have never felt something like gelousy or something like that, i know my value, and everybody else of the band knows his value, so ... she's the one...

(all are laughing)

Taria: F**k you...

Dalia: As last question i will propose you the typical gryphonmetal last question, the question is the Game of the Tower changing some particular from band to band i have the pleasure to interview, so, exclusively for you  Nightwish....:
there is a very high tower and there are three bands on the  top of it waiting for you, and you have to push down two of them, let them fall, saving just one...
for you on the tower there are: Dimmu Borgir, Pro- Pain and Helloween

Tuomas: Ok, i would push down Pro- Pain and Helloween!

Dalia: Saving Dimmu Borgir...

Tuomas: Yeah!

Dalia: I imagine Dimmu Borgir will be very happy! Thank you a lot for the  interview!
