Perfect example of a well structured group of bands that ignite an European tour which promises extreme music offered in an enjoyable size. No
mammoth caravan, no too long and stressing event. An important concert which is anyway still intimate and selected for a precise target. After Bochum and before Stuttgart, the tour
honors today Switzerland, letting the walls of legendary Z7 resonate through the implacable grip of Death, Death-Black and
Metalcore. The tour is headlined by Canadian Hyperblasters Kataklysm, the mythical powerhouse, which can give the best indeed in a tour of such moderate size, where an audience of true fans and devotees is there for them only establishing an unique balance between roaring force on the stage and great
response in the pit.
The bloodbath unleashed by all bands, mainly characterized by dynamite drumming and lethal guitars, offers
exquisite brutal grip and memorable deadly melodies. IN particular i appreciate the American Darkest Hours, a band that has in Ryan Parrish a drummer of first quality. He can ignite the band and give hailstorm as well as support to the tough musical research which is sometimes too similar to technical eager yet also very rich of super riffs which lock the metalheads in front of them. On the stage they look
dynamic, compact ...young. Go and see them in their next tours.
Perfect Belphegor in paving the way for Kataklysm without trying to
obscure them nor competing with them. A really different situation if compared with the concert Kataklysm - Behemoth 27.09.2007. Therefore i find Belphegor an ideal band to play before Kataklysm. Helmut's
malefic group brings on stage evil, blasphemous hymns of Supreme Black/ Death metal Art as music for insiders, for the chosen ones, for those who are able to
dig their misanthropic vein, soaked with sinister sense for perverted
and forbidden sin, their deep lyrics and their murderous attitude. Belphegor hit the stage like serious
metal militia, always announced by masterpiece intro "Masked Ball". Great songs of their unrepentant repertoire find place in their setlist, performed with raw approach. And the metalheads in the pit appreciate
this venomous pestilence.
Veteran experienced Kataklysm are delicious. For me today represents the warmest
Kataklysm show i have attended at Z7. The reception of the audience is sincere, enthusiastic,
amazing. Powerhouse Kataklysm is groovy, catchy, brutal, melodic,
is...all you need in extreme good music . It's true that at times the sound seems to me too bombastic and
reinforced, at times i have the impression that the great evolution of Kataklysm
music should require the presence of a third stable guitarist in the line up, but
the atmosphere of this evening is superb. Max breaking his snare drum
(and receiving a big applause for that) provokes just only a very short pause in the hot sequence of the gig. Maurizio Iacono is a tank, an unstoppable force of nature conveying tons of charisma, while guitar and bass follow lines of enhanced self confidence and technicality. The roots are not forgotten, their fans are a compact legion. Obviously,
Kataklysm setlist too is varied with classic songs of their discography and new ones; moreover Turn To Rust which in this tour has already had the European live premiere, is performed for the first time in Switzerland . The Vultures
Are Watching is also played for the first time in Switzerland. Manipulator
Of Souls, Blood On The Swans, As I Slither, Blood In Heaven sound gorgeous.
The encore is closed by an enchanting Road To Devastation. A tour like this, with this kind of bill, is brilliantly designed for Kataklysm. Exciting.
