Finally
here it is! The album for witch the whole community of the Nile-addicted
has been waiting with persistent impatience!! To avoid every
misunderstanding: This longplay should put the US-guys on one of the
highest altars of the death metal Olympus! Just let us close our eyes
and start the journey to the far land of the old pharaos and their
ancient cults…
An
orientalic and atmospheric intro takes us to the shores of Egypt where
the first song awaits us with its blast eruptions. Nile
have become clearer in their sound, in a special way a little bit
straighter and perhaps also a bit more concrete in their compositions.
One superb riff follows the next, the times when the accelerator is not
pushed to the bottom oriental melodies flow into the the sound and give
to the music the typical Nile-touch, so that no doubt can subsist
anymore Nile are back! Better than ever!
This
band shows, that in despite of some line-up changes and already a lot of
recorded albums, a band can improve without stopping in its development
or trying to get attention through changing their music through absurd
experiments. This music comes from the heart, its inside of their
soul and only has to come to the surface, genuine and pure!
There
is no need to describe every song of this masterpiece because “Annihilation
of the Wicked” is a homogene creation. Perhaps the german titled
ending track is a little bit different by using a riff that is
almost too catchy, too simple and too obvious if compared to the immense
compositions that we are used by listening to this band.
I
hope the listener will find the key to this type of music. For those who
will get in touch with Nile for the first time without having any clue
of what is awaiting them, I have to speak out a
warning. If you will show Nile even the tiniest weakness, they will
catch you, feed on your brain, your heart and your soul, making of you a
slave without possibility to escape! I don’t know if I will ever want
to take out this cd from my hifi, probably “Annihilation of the
Wicked” will always stay there! Ok, perhaps after the release of the
next Nile album, who knows…
