Funny , crazy, adventurous!
This is a nice movie,
full of action: it's thriller and funny comedy at the same time.
Charming, self -ironic and hilarious. To watch this movie is a sparkling way to
spend an evening. This movie is also varied in location, but it is
shot primarily in Budapest, Hungary, which also doubles for Rome and
Paris!!!
The deskbound CIA
analyst Susan Cooper controls dangerous missions yet she seems to be quite
awkward in her normal life, but when her partner Bradley Fine (Jude
Law) seems lost and agent Rick Ford is compromised (Jason Statham), she decides
to help in first person abandoning her desk and becoming an
undercover agent in order to bring on Fine`s work and to prevent a
terrible disaaster .
Her
first spy mission
begins,
insecurities and doubts must be dropped down.
Says McCarthy: “Susan’s
always had ability, and is great technically and tactically, but she
lacked confidence. Now her field experiences and loyalty to Jude’s
character, Bradley Fine, begin to bring out her full potential. She
discovers talents she didn’t know she had.”
The protagonist is
indeed a capable but
underestimated person who
finally gets an opportunity to shine.
Absolutely funny is Jason Statham's character, egocentric but lovely
the one interpreted by Jude Law : Bradley Fine.
Photography is very ok and colorful. Related to this I find
this technical information very interesting:
Director of photography Robert Yeoman uses small GoPro cameras
to simulate the imagery delivered by the contact lens camera,
letting the audience see exactly what Susan is viewing on her
monitor. Says Law: “When
Fine’s on the frontlines, Coop is telling him where to go, who’s
following him, the nearest escape route. His life is in her hands.”
During his actions "spy" Fine
wears
indeed
special contact lenses that act as a camera.
Cool ar the
fights in caves excavated under Buda (Budapest), as well as
the comical yet violent confrontation in a restaurant
kitchen, as well as the drive in Rome, or the hotel in Paris.
Everything is funny, some scenes are predictable though
or even too crazy and improbable, but all this doesn`t spoil the fun.
Copper
can
infiltrate the world of the bad guys,
yet this world is presented to us as a glossy carousel: memorable
are the scene at Hungarian Club Nomad, a hip dance venue
for the rich and young. 50 Cent is on the stage performing.
Nancy, interpreted by Miranda Hart (Cooper's colleague and best
friend) must create a diversion, because
Coper
must keep certain people from encountering each other.
Miranda Hart explains, “Nancy
needs to distract eyes away from the dance floor, so she rushes the
stage and tackles 50 Cent. Just plows him over.”
50 Cent himself confirms “Miranda hit me like
a linebacker. I was prepared to sort of fake fall when she made
contact, but no fakery was required. I found myself on the ground.”
Spy is also the first movie allowed to film inside allowed to film inside
Budapest’s Four Season’s Gresham Palace:
an example of Art Nouveau and
one of Europe’s mo.
Not bad, isn`t ;) ?
