Belgium formation AXAMENTA is confirmed for the 10th edition of Graspop Metal Meeting.
The band will play on Friday 24.06 on the newborn Metal Dome Stage (stage for upcoming talent from Holland & Belgium).
Next week the band will enter Jacob Hansen Studio in Denmark to record their new album. The album will be recorded with Jacob Hanssen, known for his work with bands like Mercenary, Invocator & Aborted.
After the recordings in Denmark the band will head to Sweden for the final mix and mastering at the world famous Fredman Studio, all under supervision of producer Fredrik Nördstrom, known for his work with bands like Soilwork, In Flames & Dimmu Borgir.
A release is to be expected in the second half of 2005 on Karmageddon Media.

shoot a multi-angle video of drummer Raymond

BODOM for using almost exactly the same title ("Are
You Dead Yet?") for their upcoming CD as that
of CARNAL FORGE's latest effort, 2004's "Aren't
You Dead Yet?". Writing to their official web
site, CARNAL FORGE said, "CHILDREN OF
BODOM has ckosen to use almost the same title for
their upcoming album as our latest album... don't they
have Google in Finland? Read the comments from Blabbermouth..."
CARNAL FORGE are currently

have pushed forward the release date of their new
album, "Heart & Anger" (Nuclear Blast),
to May 23 from the previously announced May 30. The CD
was issued in Japan on April 21.
The follow-up to 2003's "Scent of Human
Desire", "Heart & Anger" was
recorded at One Voice Studio in Chivasso, Italy by
Daniele Giordana, Night & Day Studio in
Alessandria, Italy by Paolo Facco, and Sheepvalley
Studio in Stockholm, Sweden by Daniel Flores. Guest
singers on the album include Roberto Tiranti
(LABYRINTH), Marco Mesemi (MORGANA), Vera Quarleri and
Monica Elias. The album was mixed by Achim "Akeem"
Köhler (BRAINSTORM, SILENT FORCE) at the House of
Audio in Winterbach, Germany.

German thrashers DEW-SCENTED will film their performance on November 19 at the Metal Meeting XVIII festival in Ludwigshafen, Germany for their first-ever live DVD, tentatively due in early 2006.
DEW-SCENTED have set "Issue VI" as the title of their new album, due in Europe on June 20 via Nuclear Blast Records. North American and Japanese release dates have not yet been announced.
The follow-up to 2003's "Impact", "Issue VI" was recorded at Stage One studios in Borgentreich, Germany with producer Andy Classen (CALLENISH CIRCLE, TANKARD, OCCULT).

German doom/gothic metallers LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE parted ways with rhythm guitarist Christian Freitsmiedl after the completion of their recent German tour with THE 69 EYES. Replacing Christian in the band's lineup is Tony Berger. Tony will make his live debut with the group this week in Austria and will take part in the upcoming summer festivals.
LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE will enter the studio in September to record their seventh album, tentatively due in early 2006 via Napalm Records. The band's most recent CD,
"Ave End", was released last June.

Finnish melodic thrash/death metallers IMPERANON
have posted the following update on their official web
site:
"January 2004 after the recordings of 'Stained',
Aleksi [Sihvonen, guitar] went to the
military and got out on July when Jaakko [Nylund,
drums] started his service. Jaakko got out
April 7th 2005.
"At some point we got an e-mail from Nuclear
Blast stating that our partnership was over, so
now we are searching label to publish our records.
"Meanwhile Aleksi [Virta] was asked
to join FINNTROLL to play keyboards on their
European tour and so he went, and is still there.
"Teemu [Mäntysaari] is currently
selling and buying guitars, man the guy shows up at
rehearsals with a new guitar almost every time =) And
now he even bought a drum kit! And he's working with WINTERSUN
as well.
"A few days ago we finished a new three-song demo
tape, which was self-recorded with programmed drums (Jaakko
was in the military so couldn't participate in the
recordings of the demo). Let's see what the future
brings to us with it so stay tuned!"
IMPERANON's debut album, "Stained",
was released last May through Nuclear Blast.
That CD was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios with
engineer Nino Laurenne and producer Titus
Hjelm and was mixed at Finnvox studios with
Mikko Karmila.

BISHOP OF HEXEN have signed a three-album deal with the Austrian metal label CCP Records. The band are currently hard at work on material for a new album, tentatively due in early 2006.

Finnish "fantasy metal" band BATTLELORE have completed work on their third album, "Third Age of the Sun", tentatively due in June via Napalm Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Sword's Song" was recorded at SoundSuite Studio in Marseille, France with producer Terje Refsnes (TRISTANIA, MORGUL, TURISAS). Mastering duties were handled at Finnvox studios in Helsinki.
BATTLELORE recently announced the departure of bassist/founding member Miika Kokkola due to "personal reasons." Replacing him in the group's lineup is Timo Honkanen, who has already toured with the group as Kokkola's temporary replacement on their "Atlantis Lovelorn" tour with ATROCITY and LEAVES' EYES late last year. In addition, the band have announced that vocalist Tomi Mykkänen, who also performed with the group on the aforementioned tour, has been named a full-time member of BATTLELORE and has contributed vocals to their third album.

having recruited a new bassist, Giulio Caputi, from a
well known Motley Crue cover band, Kingcrow are now
fully involved with the composition of their brandnew
album, tentatively titled "Timetropia".
It comes after the big success of "Insider",
and will be a concept album, once again. The story is
still top secret, but the music is more complex, from
both the structural and arrangements points of view.
There will be many theatrical and progressive
elements, near to a real Musical in the typical
Kingcrow style.
Recording sessions will start about April, for a
summer release, under a top secret well known
progressive label.
In the meantime, it
was finally released the "Never Say Die"
videoclip, that can be downloaded in low and high
quality from the address http://www.kingcrow.it/video.asp,
and will be included in the new album as a limited
edition.
"The
Killing Hand", the
progressive-suite from "Insider" is

The mighty German heavy metal festival, Wacken, has leant its European marketing muscle to the U.K. in a global demonstration of support for the launch of Bloodstock Open Air (B-O-A) — the leading independent U.K. festival that is dedicated to heavy metal music.
With Wacken's support, B-O-A will be an international Mecca for heavy metal music fans, producing a metal fest to match any in Europe. Thousands of fans are expected to converge on Catton Hall in Derbyshire on June 24-25 to experience an incredible lineup of European legends alongside fresh U.K. talent; solid rhythm making, blood-pounding, adrenalin fuelled metal!
Vince Brotheridge and Paul Gregory are the dedicated fans behind the creation of Bloodstock, their Nottingham-based promotions company. Recognizing the lack of a traditional heavy metal/rock festival in the U.K., the friends were determined to find a way to share their passion for the music with other fans around the world. Bloodstock U.K. exploded onto the festival scene in 2001 and over the last four years it has brought some of Europe's top rock acts to the U.K. for the first time. PRIMAL FEAR, BLIND GUARDIAN, ELVENKING and NIGHTWISH have debuted in the U.K. at Bloodstock. The success of Bloodstock has attracted the interest and support of Thomas Jensen, organizer of the internationally renowned Wacken festival in Germany. Like Bloodstock, Wacken was born from the passion of a handful of metal fans looking for somewhere to share their love of music. The German festival has grown consistently over the last fifteen years, from an initial 800 visitors attending in 1990, to over 30,000 people travelling from all over Europe. Thomas says, "We are delighted to support such a dynamic festival and help it reach the international acclaim of Wacken. Our goal is to strengthen Bloodstock and B-O-A to attract 20,000 fans in the next three years and really place the U.K. on the map for Euro-style metal music."

Urban Festival on Saturday, April 23 in Geneva. THE YOUNG GODS reportedly had to cancel their appearance at the festival for medical reasons.

magazine, MASTODON have
inked a record deal with Warner Music and are expected
to issue a new album in early 2006.
MASTODON, currently in the midst of a U.S. headlining
tour, just completed work on a video for "Blood
and Thunder" with director Jonathan Rej. The
video, described as "far-and-away different than
most any modern day music video", is expected to
make its world network premiere(s) imminently.
As previously reported, MASTODON has been added to
Ozzfest 2005, where they will join BLACK SABBATH, IRON
MAIDEN, ROB ZOMBIE and others for the 10-year
anniversary of the heralded festival.

album. The band encourages everyone that has artistic
skill and has an original vision to submit their work

The winning artwork will be selected by KATAKLYSM
and the band's representatives at Nuclear Blast
Records. The lucky contest winner will see his/her
creation used as the cover of the group's next album
as well as on all accompanying merchandise items,

[UNHOLY GHOST]" and "did not join" the
group.
Hoffman is currently involved in a legal dispute with
DEICIDE frontman Glen Benton over the rights to the
long-running Florida-based band's name.
"My brother [Brian Hoffman, ex-DEICIDE guitarist]
and I are working on getting a new DEICIDE
together," Hoffman told BLABBERMOUTH.NET. "The
court will decide who gets the name DEICIDE."

has officially pulled out of the X-Mass festivals 2005
in Europe this December, for the simple reason that the
new album will not be ready in time to coincide with the
X-Mass festivals and it made no sense to do the tour.
Instead, Kataklysm have confirmed that they will be part
of the No Mercy
festivals 2006 and
will be followed by a series of dates across Europe. The
new album entitled "In the Arms of
Devastation" has now a tentative release time frame
of February 2006 through Nuclear Blast Records.
"The writting process is going very well and
according to plan. All the focus,the ideas, the passion
and the drive are there and that's what makes good
albums in my opinion. Expect nothing but hard work and

of Norway signs with the scummiest label of them all:

RECORDS, a division of Tuba Records
Two
years ago a meeting took place in Norway. A group of
people convened to discuss the possibility of making an
album that would impact the world music scene
like never before. Some rehearsals took place in 2002
and ideas and plans were thrown back and forth. However,
due to prior commitments and time
conflicts, the line up was forced to change. But the
core of the group maintained the idea and finally, in
the fall 2004, the decision was made to make it
happen.
SCUM
was spawned! Scum is a unique project in many aspects;
first and foremost its line up is probably the most
interesting gathering of people to
record an album in a long time...
Casey
Chaos (Amen), Samoth (Zyklon, ex-Emperor), Faust
(ex-Emperor), Cosmocrator (MindGrinder) and Happy Tom (Turbonegro)
This
is a project where each member is a leader, which makes
everything much more powerful. This is a standout
project, simple as that! You have the eccentric
punk rocker Casey Chaos, you have Samoth and Faust from
Emperor appearing together on an album for the first
time in over 10 years, you have
the denim stud rocker Happy Tom from Turbonegro and you
have the fresh blood of Cosmocrator from Extreme Metal
band MindGrinder.
With
Casey Chaos being the only "American" in the
group, many thought it would be difficult to get along
in rehearsal. However, the first day the band met
up in the studio the chemistry couldn’t
have been better! With only a few songs in mind at the
start, within a week the band had more than enough
material for the album.
The
band was fortunate enough to be able to record the album
in Crystal Canyon Studio (Turbonegro, We, Euroboy,
etc.), and owned by Euroboy (Turbonegro),
who, once he heard what the band had been creating, was
then inspired to lay down leads to several songs. The
album also has Mortiis’s participation
with various lyrics.
The
blueprint of this album was simple. Having some of the
most respected pioneers of True Norwegian Black Metal,
that genre was used for the basis, and
blended that with a punk rock attitude, as well as
various aggressive hooks.
This
is an album of action and freedom. A unique alliance to
address the state of affairs in music, and bring life to
a dead and politically correct society.
Scum
has just begun to spread its filth and disease to your
infected culture.

have been in and out of the studio , working themselves
into the ground , painstakingly piecing together tracks for
the follow up to 2002's debut album ' spray ' along
with 5 tracks re worked for gary numans ' hybrid '
remix-re-work album alongside producers flood and alan
moulder to name a few-
i think a lot of people are
wondering what the new album will be like-we do actually
feel a lot of pressure to make the best record we can - not
many people have heard any of the new stuff - were keeping a
deliberately low profile '- i can tell you that
toni halliday from curve has done some additional vocals on
a new track called ' losing faith' which sounds great
its a lot more song orientated
-than the last record
'spray' was more of an experiment on
our behalf rather than an album of songs, - we
have made a concious effort to try new things and go down
new avenues - we knew we would never make another
' spray ' what would be the point ?- it has to move forward
-it has to progress - the band have changed
musically and personally over the past 3 years -weve been
through a lot together,a lot of shit people on
the outside never see -- a lot has happened and you
really find out who your true friends are when you do what
we do - we still have the core 3 members - myself , monti
and live bassist mud - it feels like a real family now - at
one point we werent sure if we could or even wanted to carry
on -- we have stood by each other through all the shit
and weve come out the other side of it -
the music will speak for itself -
it will have been worth the wait -

- NEW TOUR AND SINGLE IN APRIL
NOTODDEN, NORWAY - Mortiis, aiming high as
usual, follow last years UK singles chart success with
the release of a new single in April and a 12 date UK
tour to coincide.
The band are set to release their
new single -'Decadent & Desperate' - in the UK on
25th April. The single will be released in two 7"
Vinyl and one CD Digipack format, which will contain various
exclusive bonus tracks and remixes. The CD will feature
'Decadent & Desperate' along with a new
previously unreleased song entitled 'Underdog' and
'Gibber' - Gibbering Idiot Mix (Remix). The vinyl
formats will come in different poster bags. Vinyl 1 will
contain 'Decadent & Desperate' and a live version
of 'Parasite God'. The poster features artwork
from the limited edition of 'The Grudge' album. Vinyl 2
contains 'Decadent & Desperate' and 'Way Too Wicked'-
Absinthium Mix (Remix) and comes with an exclusive band
poster. The release follows last years debut single
'The Grudge' which saw the band make their first ever entry
in the 'Official UK Singles Chart'.
Mortiis kick off the 'Decadent
& Desperate UK Tour' at Cardiff Barfly on April
19th. The tour then continues at Cambridge Junction 20th,
Leicester Charlotte 21st, Camberley Agincourt 22nd,
Sheffield Corporation 23rd, London The Garage 24th, Leeds
Cockpit 25th, Liverpool Academy 26th, Glasgow King Tuts
27th, Dundee Reading Rooms 28th, Manchester Academy 3
29th, Birmingham Academy 30th. Support on all dates comes
from NFD (ex Fields of the Nephilim) and Panic DHH.
A video for 'Decadent &
Desperate' was recently completed in the UK, with film
and video director Adam Mason (Million Dead,
Sikth, Winnebago Deal) The video is based on a dream
sequence where Mortiis becomes a split personality and finds
himself in a Victorian nightmare with members of
the band, who portray his tormentors. Filming took
place at the end of February over two nights in
sub zero temperatures at a disused RAF base. The
shoot went off without a hitch, apart from the local
constabulary despatching a helicopter and patrol cars to see
what all the commotion was about. With their curiosity
satisfied the police withdrew leaving the bemused band
and crew to complete the shoot.
Meanwhile work is still continuing on
'Soul In A Hole' , the forthcoming live DVD which
was recorded at the London show on last years
'Unlimited Grudge' European tour and is set for
release in May.

Testament lead vocalist, Chuck Billy, and founding
guitarist, Eric Peterson announce that original guitar
player Alex Skolnick, and original bassist Greg Christian,
and previous Testament drummer alumnist Johnny Tempesta, are
joining them for a Reunion Tour in Europe, May 7 to May 15
ONLY. The tour will last for 9 shows only.
Each of the other three musicians have other bands,
projects, and recordings coming out, but they have all
agreed to join forces with Chuck and Eric to blow out this
limited reunion tour in May. Chuck Billy is quoted as
saying "I'm in music to enjoy it, and playing with my
old band-mates after all these years will be killer!"
Eric Peterson adds "This reunion tour takes me back 20
years, the fans will freak seeing us together again!"

Kataklysm was not able to attend the opening night at the
Phoenix Theater (Toronto) this week to receive its award, as

WINS NORWEGIAN GRAMMY AWARD
"It's with great pride we announce
that Enslaved was honoured with
a Grammy Award for their latest masterpiece, ISA. The
Norwegian Grammy ceremony
was held in Oslo Spectrum for the 33rd time on Saturday the
26th of February,
and was broadcasted live on national TV. This is was the
band´s third Grammy
nomination. So it's safe to say that is was well deserved.
The
other nominees in the metal genre was Mayhem
and domestic phenomenon Black
Debbath. Enslaved was not able to attend the actual
ceremony as they are currently
touring Europe, but we're thrilled when the received the
news. Ivar Bjørnson
had the following comment: "This Grammy Award means
very much to the
band and reflects the recognition of our efforts not only
for this record
alone, but for years of hard work. After two nominations, it
felt extremely good
to get the recognition from the mainstream music circus and
to finally finish first for a change." Ivar Bjørnson's
father took the stage,
and received the Award on the band's behalf with the
following statement:
"there is more to the picture than meets the eye...
Rock'n'Roll will
never die!"
Enslaved has also received the independent
Alarm Award for best metal album
in 2004. Enslaved was nominated for their latest
studio album, Isa, in the metal
genre. The other nominees was: Susperia, Khold, Red Harvest
and Mayhem.
Enslaved is the first Norwegian band to be
confirmed for this years Roskilde
Festival in Denmark. Enslaved will also play the Fury
Fest in France and Graspop

busy with the recordings of their second album, the
follower to “Lovelorn”. The recordings of guitar,

working on the orchestra percussions, such as timpani,
marching snare, symphonic cymbals and other classical
instruments. At the same time LIV KRISTINE is preparing
her vocals. In her lyrics for the concept album she will
include epical and historical elements of the
nordic mythology.

be released at the 30th of May!

Mini CD in a jewel case format will be released on 05
May. The humbly priced MCD will include 3

Mortis will work
with a new producer on their forthcoming
"contemporary" release. Thomas
Heimann-Trosien, who among others has worked with In
Extremo, Subway to Sally, as well as artist such as
Jeanette Biedermann and Orange Blue, is the band's number
one choice.
Fans
of the German Medieval band will be anxiously awaiting the release
of this new material to hear the band's latest sound
extravaganza.

SIEBENBÜRGEN
are putting the finishing touches to their long-awaited
follow-up to Plagued Be Thy Angel. The new offering
is entitled Darker Designs and Images and will be
released in May. After some line-up changes, SIEBENBÜRGEN
announces that guitarist Linus Ekström will sling the axe
in this upcoming release, but he will for now only feature
on the album.
Statement
of SIEBENBÜRGEN:
"We
hired Turid Walderhaug to sing on the Plagued tour.
We had to let her go after that because we felt she was not
what we wanted for SIEBENBÜRGEN. Instead
we found Erika Roos, whom we are totally satisfied
with, a great compliment to the band. Also we got Fredrik
Folkare in on guitars. Fredrik also play guitar in Unleashed.
We had to depart with him in December 04 due to
irreconcilable differences. Departing with Folkare also
meant that we had to re-write half of the new songs for the
album which caused a small but pleasurable delay. In
august 04 we found Niklas Sandin to step into the empty
shoes of Fredrik Brockert on bass guitar."

Circle signed a multi-album deal with German
label Dockyard 1 (www.dockyard1.com),
the new company of Dirk Putzke, Christine Stephan (both
ex-Sanctuary/Noise Records) and Piet Sielck (Iron Savior).
The Band is in the writing process of the next 7th full
length album.

In addition to performing the parts originally done by Orson
Wells in the MANOWAR songs "Defender"
and "Dark Avenger" during the band's
upcoming appearance at the Earthshaker
Fest, acclaimed actor Christopher Lee will
also join RHAPSODY on stage to perform their song "Unholy
Warcry" at the German festival.
Lee has apeared in over 223 films, including "The
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" (as Saruman
the White), "Star Wars - Episode 2: Attack of
the Clones" (as Count Dooku), "Gremlins
II" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".
Lee is also committed to act as Count Dooku in
the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode III".
Earthshaker Fest 2005 is a two-day event set to take
place July 22-23 in Geiselwind, Germany. More information is

Germany's premier black thrashing artillery
DESASTER have inked a deal with Metal
Blade Records. Their next album "Angelwhore" will
be released on CD format via Metal Blade. The vinyl version will
be released via Iron Pegasus Records.
The band is currently in the songwriting
stage. The release of their new neckbreaking bonecrusher is
scheduled for August 2005

Swedish
modern Thrash formation SCAAR
was formed by guitarist Alf Johansson and vocalist Alex Jonsson early
1999. Bassplayer Matts Vassfjord and drummer Richard Holmgren joined
shortly there after to complete the line-up. All four members have been
active in numerous local bands in Ekilstuna - Västeräs for years, before
joining forces to form SCAAR. Live SCAAR could best be described as
nothing short of energy, hard-hitting and straight into your face. The
band received raving reviews for both the live spectacle they put on, as
well as for the studio efforts in papers and magazines from all over the
world. The band’s new album ‘THE
SECOND INCISION’ could just be only a start for something
bigger to come… expect a killer mix of
Machine Head,
Slayer, Corrosion of Conformity & Pantera.
