This
is the funniest CD I have listened to in a long time. I had no idea
what to expect from this band, only that they were from New York at
least! This is such an odd band
to, it made up of members from several bands like Overkill and Seven
Witches to make up this interesting sounding band. If I could describe
them, I’d have to say that they are an interesting combination
between Type O Negative and the Misfits. Which is interesting because
their singer, Myke
Hideous, did a tour with the Misfits but never actually recorded with
them. It’s a shame too, he would have been a great singer for that
band. The
opening track is, for me, an instant classic! Little
Dead Girl goes beyond words for me. The best way to describe this
track is to say that it sounds like a Halloween song with a definite
rock beat but with deep-rich singing. The words are catchy and the
music is too! I can’t stop listening to this song. Fortunately for
everyone, they have posted this track in its entirety on their site
along with the music video, which is also addicting to watch.
I’m surprised that this song isn’t all over the radio because it
would be a big hit. The next track is a bit different, Everything
I Got is not nearly upbeat.
The song is well put together; it’s a bit down-tuned, slower and
sounds more like Type O Negative and Entwine than anything else. I
found it kind of a surprise that the producer placed this song as the
second song on the CD. Now,
Sherimoon
should have been that second track! It’s another upbeat song with
more of those catchy lyrics and it showcases excellent singing. I can
also honestly say that this track is almost as addicting as the first
song was. Now, Motorcrypt
in a way sounds a little on a cheesy side. It sounds like a Halloween
song with an cheesy upbeat feeling to it with pipe organ keyboards and
everything. This one is an instrumental song, it’s not bad to listen
to, but it’s still cheese to me. The
rest CD unfortunately is a little bleh. It’s dark but without
substance. It was just okay if that. Sonically
the CD is a little dry. I felt that it was lacking that little
something that makes albums special;
I can’t put my finger on it though. Perhaps not enough keys? The
drums were a little dry in sound, I could hear the reverb, I don’t
know. The mix was fine, but something about it just didn’t sit well
with me… The Short of it: The
first few tracks were great, but the rest could have been better. rating:
