You
knew this gonna be a very special evening.
You
knew this gonna be a very special evening with many classic tracks when Darkmoon
announced, their 15 year anniversary celebration at Sommercasino. Also
special was hired Arcturon drummer Sämi Fischer who helped Coilcry
for the show, because their drummer Dave Horstmann was out of action due
his broken middle finger on the left hand.
However,
despite these circumstances many metal fans were lookin’ forward to
this event and you early before the doors opened on 8:00 PM.
Coilcry
started
on 8:30 PM with “Control Any Crowd” after “Papa Loves Mambo”
intro by Perry Como. Although singer Alex Büche had to deal with
problems, the audience didn’t notice it at all. On the contrary of his
situation, he kicked ass and entertained the audience in a special way.
For
example when he explained the circumstances about Dave Horstmann’s
broken hand. Dave had stroke a cow before the record session in a record
studio in Hamburg, Germany about two weeks ago. Suddenly this cow
pressed her head against his hand against the steel fence in front of
her enclosure and caused the broken middle finger on the left hand.
It’s the truth and nothin’ but the truth! It ain’t a joke! These
unfavourable initial positions lead to the recording of the first half
of the upcoming record “Strength beyond Fear”.
Guitar
player Sandro Gysin convinced with catchy guitar tunes from his Washburn
guitar when Alex convinced with singing. “My Girlfriend is a Jesus
freak” became the kick ass track when all spectators went totally
nutz. “Trapper Murphy” was the last track. Coilcry
played a great show and satisfied the spectators again.

Now,
the Baden Pessimist from Weil
am Rhein, Germany were the next in the row. Many spectators were excited
about singer Michael Schweitzer performance with new band members.
“Trommelfeuer” marked the beginning and the audience took the
audience with uncompromissin’ Thrash Metal. Some spectators liked
music so much that they started a mosh pit and a circle pit in the front
row. Michael”TZ”Schweitzer liked it pretty much.
Generally
he showed his good mood with a big smile. During the show he announced
the record release party of the second record “Death From Above”
with Deaf Aid and many more in Weil am Rhein-Haltingen, Germany on March
23 2013. Actually, “Call to War” should’ve been the last song but
the spectators ask for an encore. “It’s time to fuck (with hate)”
followed and the band took a photograph with former band members before
they left the stage.

Darkmoon
entered the stage late at night. Matthias told the audience that the
band would be 15 years old and coming of age. Laughter’s occurred.
They convinced the audience with the classic tracks „Dust In My
Eyes“, „Far From Heaven“, „Last Kiss / Final Embrace“ and
„Evil Goddess of the night“. Matthias received much considerable
support for “The Hate Still Burns”, because this track is a protest
against all pedophile priests and the church for the effort of sweeping
these crimes under the carpet.
Current
drummer Laurent Strack sat behind the drum kit for the first eight
tracks before he gave the drum sticks to Hubi. The ol’ drummer Hubi
had spent eight years in the band and was involved during the demo
recordings and the recording of the debut. Hubi kicked the drums when
the “A Godless Place” intro pumped out the speakers and “The
Deceiver” got played. „Terror“, „Last Kiss/Final Embrace” and
“Lord of the Flies” were the other tracks with Hubi before Laurent
Strack returned behind the drums.
Darkmoon
wanted leave after the regular set, but the spectators weren’t
satisfied yet and asked for more. This special event was responsible for
the three encores “Drowning”, the new song “Resistance” and the
long-awaited “Black Domain”.
Another
new song called “Riders of the sky” was introduced next to
“Resistance” and “Longing for”. The most outstanding song was
the bass influenced “Resistance”.

Cake
for free was given out on the merchandise corner after the show. This
cake was a culinary delight for everyone. Big thanks to the bands!

15-jähriges
Jubiläum
Als
Darkmoon angekündigt hatten
ihr 15-jähriges Jubiläum im Sommercasino zu begehen, wusste man schon
im Voraus, dass es ein toller und zugleich spezieller Abend würde mit
vielen Klassikern aus der Bandgeschichte. Ebenfalls speziell war, dass Coilcry
im Vorfeld Arcturon Schlagzeuger Sämi Fischer für den Auftritt ins
Boot geholt hatten, denn ihr Schlagzeuger David Horstmann hatte sich den
Mittelfinger an der linken Hand gebrochen und war deshalb immer noch
ausser Gefecht.
Trotz
dieser Umstände freuten sich viele Metal Fans auf diesen Event und so
fand man sich schon früh vor der Türöffnung ein ehe man um 20 Uhr
eintreten durfte.
Coilcry
eröffneten um 20:30 Uhr den Abend mit „Control Any Crowd“ nach dem
Intro „Papa Loves Mambo“ von Perry Como. Obwohl Sänger Alex Büche
an diesem Abend gesundheitlich angeschlagen war, merkte man ihm das auf
der Bühne nicht. Im Gegenteil, er gab Vollgas und liess sich nicht
nehmen, das Publikum auf originelle Art und Weise zu unterhalten.
Zum
Beispiel als er die genaueren Umstände erläuterten, die zu David
Horstmanns gebrochener Hand führten. Dave hatte ca. zwei Wochen vor den
Aufnahmen in einem Hamburger Tonstudio eine Kuh gestreichelt, welche plötzlich
ruckartig ihren Kopf gegen seine Hand drückte und gegen den Stahlzaun
vor dem Gehege schlug und somit seinen gebrochenen Mittelfinger an der
linken Hand verursachte. Ist kein Scherz, sondern die Wahrheit!
Aufgrund
dieser ungünstigen Ausgangslage konnte erst die Hälfte des kommenden
Albums „Strength Beyond Fear“ eingespielt werden.
Während
Alex stimmlich brillierte, gelang dies Gitarrist Sandro Gysin durch
fetzige Gitarrenriffs, welche er seiner Washburn Gitarre entlockte. Mit
„My Girlfriend Is A Jesus Freak“ folgte die Abrissbirne schlechthin
bei dem die Zuschauer völlig durchdrehten. Nach „Trapper Murphy“
war Schluss. Coilcry hatten
eine überzeugende Darbietung hingelegt und die Zuschauer wieder einmal
zufrieden gestellt.

durften die Badener Pessimist aus Weil am Rhein, Deutschland als nächste Band ran.
Viele Zuschauer waren gespannt darauf wie sich Sänger Michael
Schweitzer mit neuen Mitgliedern präsentiert würde. „Trommelfeuer“
markierte den Beginn und mit kompromisslosem Knüppel Thrash wurde das
Publikum in die Mangel genommen.
Einigen
Zuschauern gefiel die Musik derart, dass sie einen Mosh Pit und Circle
Pit in der ersten Reihe vor der Bühne auslösten. Dies wiederum gefiel
Michael“TZ“ Schweitzer. Generell versprühte er an diesem Abend gute
Laune und drückte dies durch ein breites Grinsen aus. Während dem
Auftritt kündigte er die CD Taufe vom zweiten Album „Death From
Above“ an, welche am 23. März 2013 in Weil am Rhein-Haltingen mit den
Bands Deaf Aid, u.a. über die Bühne gehen wird. „Call to War“ wäre
der letzte Song gewesen, aber die Zuschauer forderten eine Zugabe und
bekamen für ihre Bemühungen den Song „It’s time to fuck with
hate“. Bevor die Band die Bühne verliess, gab es noch ein Foto mit
ehemaligen Bandmitgliedern. Ein starker Auftritt war zu Ende gegangen.

Zu
später Stunde versammelten sich Darkmoon
auf der Bühne. Die Band sei jetzt 15 Jahre alt und mitten in der Pubertät,
teilte Sänger Matthias Borer dem Publikum mit und erntete für diese
Aussage einige Lacher. Mit den Klassikern „Dust In My Eyes“, „Far
From Heaven“, „Last Kiss / Final Embrace“ und „Evil Goddess of
the night“ gelang es ihnen innert kürzester Zeit das Publikum auf
ihre Seite zu ziehen. Beim Lied „The Hate Still Burns“ erntete
Matthias viel Zuspruch, weil dieses Lied eine Art Protest gegen alle pädophilen
Priester und der Kirche ihre Bemühungen diese Verbrechen unter den
Teppich zu kehren darstellt.
Für
die ersten acht Songs nahm der aktuelle Schlagzeuger Laurent Strack
hinter den Trommeln Platz, bevor er die Schlagzeugstöcke Hubi überreichte.
Der alte Schlagzeuger Hubi war acht Jahre dabei und bei den Aufnahmen
der Demos und dem Debütalbum involviert. Dann kam Schlagzeuger Hubi
noch nach dem Song „The Deceiver“, der durch das A Godless Place
Intro eingeläutet wurde, bei den Songs „Terror“, „Last Kiss/Final
Embrace” und “Lord of the Flies” zum Einsatz, bevor dann Laurent
Strack hinter das Schlagzeug zurückkehrte.
Eigentlich
wollten Darkmoon nach dem regulären Set gehen, aber die Zuschauer hatten
noch lange nicht genug und verlangten nach mehr. Wegen dem besonderen
Anlass kamen sie in den Genuss von den drei Zugaben „Drowning“, dem
neuen Song „Resistance“ und dem sehnlichst erwarteten „Black
Domain“.
Neben
„Resistance“, „Longing For“ wurde mit „Riders of the sky“
ein weiterer neuer Song vorgestellt wobei das basslastige
„Resistance“ am meisten herausstach.

Nach
dem Konzert wurde am Merchandise Stand gratis Kuchen verteilt. Dieser
Kuchen war ein kulinarischer Hochgenuss für jeden Gaumen. Danke
vielmals an die Bands für diesen gelungenen Abend!
