Are you dead yet?

Review  by Carl "Adrimir" Bengtsson__

It's been three years since the release of "Follow the Reaper", and now, finally, the
boys from Children of Bodom has released yet another spellbinding album.
The first album I heard with COB was "Hatebreeder", and I can honestly say I loved every minute of that album, and I was not disappointed with "Follow the reaper" either.
Now the time has come for COB's 4th studio album, and judging from just the first few notes in the opening track "Needled 24/7", I will love this one as well

Heavy tracks such as "Sixpounder" are well mixed with faster, more  aggressive tunes such as "You're better off dead". I've said before that Alexi Laiho has a sort of trademark in  his guitarplaying, a statement that I stick by. The riffs are fast, heavy, hard and very melodic.
As a bonus track, COB gives us a nice little cover from Slayer's "Silent Scream". Lovely.

On a negative note, this album is not that different from the others, if you don't count "Something Wild".
Basically, it is a follow up to "Hatebreeder" and "Follow the reaper". Unfortunately it isn't very innovative, but that's just my opinion. I know that some people are against bands who evolve, but to me it would only seem natural to change some things. Possibly a different mixing or mastering, just to make it sound like a new album, instead of something the label has put together of already existing material.

Overall, this is a great album, not very unlike the other albums, but still...
