TIME CHANGES EVERYTHING
SALVO:  Hi Ivan.....congratulations for your last cd..... your band has gone through a great musical evolution.... what do you want to say about your last cd....and the many influences we can hear?

IVAN:  Thank you very much...about the sound of the new stuff I can simply say that
we had a natural evolution. We always liked the melodic way to compose our tracks, the only difference between "Still..." and "Cumbersome", is the different way to propose our sound, definitely more groovy and "in your face"...about influences, I really can say little or nothing 'cause we try to express ourselves completely, this is the reason why I think Evenfall have their own style...but if you wanna know what kinda stuff we like, personally I can talk about Sisters of Mercy or Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Satriani, MacAlpine & many more...

"Still in the grey dying" was considered a black metal album by many people ...because a castle appears in the artwork ...but I don't think it's black metal....do you agree?

The only thing that links us to black metal is Ansgar, 'cause of his growling voice, musically
speaking the direction was very melodic & completely different from the conventional black metal style...

Tell me something about the line up of your band ....about Boban and Roby......
let's take a look at the history of the line-up...

...Roby joined the band shortly before the end of the production, right now
I don't have enough time to explain why and how, but we were looking for a female voice 'cause of the very melodic structure of the tracks, so she was the first person I thought about...even if I must say that we worked a lot with a female voice in the past...so nothing new about this decision... Boban instead was a great support for the band as producer and as a guitar player too... but 'cause of a lot of work commitments he decided to leave the band after the end of the production... the same thing goes for the drummer Viktor and the bass player Melis...

The guitar riffing is very interesting because I note a nu-metal influence ....is it true?

It's true, even if you are one of the few people who have said that, most people say it's gothic with black metal influences or black metal only...it's ridiculous... this is exactly the way they show you how incompetent they are...

When you began to play....who was your favourite guitar player?

Definitely Mr. Tony McAlpine...Personally I think that he was and is one of the best guitar players around, even if I adore other players such as Satriani & Steve Vai as well...but Tony means something special to me...

And now...who's your favourite.......?

I like players like Petrucci very much and a lot of others, but if we wanna talk not only about
guitar heroes in the strict sense of the term but about great composers as well, I'd say Tony Iommy of Black Sabbath: is a genius...

In your last cd...we note a very melodic influence and the music is more easy listening ....tell me why... is it to gain more fans from the melodic scene?

I think that if you wanna let your listeners dream through your music, melody is the right way. The interesting thing is that we were able to mix melody with groove and a massive guitar attack, so quite different to bands like Lacuna Coil for example...this is the reason why I think that Evenfall are really special and not a common band...

The production of your last cd..is better than "Still in the grey dying" but it could be better.....it's a shame...but can you explain the production problems for many bands, like yourselves?....

It simply depends on the budget you receive from your label, but not only that, because a good producer will do the rest...(of course, there's always the question of being able to pay him....)

When will we see you in a tournče?

As soon as possible I hope, even if I think that we will not be on tour in the near future
'cause it seems that Century Media is not interested in us touring for the moment...

Tell me something about the lyrics of the two albums......

...quite different, exactly the same as the things we live in our everyday life...time changes everything, the world changes, people change, everything changes...they are often introspective, not written to say what you have to change in your life, but to express ourself about thematics we consider important or interesting...

And what do you think about Deathss??

I like the band very much, really great, I consider them a living legend...

With whom would you go around the world for a tournče??

With Ac/Dc hehehe...ok stop joking...it would be cool to be on tour with Nevermore or HIM another two bands I like very much...

Now ...a question about the future...about your next release?

Actually we are working hard on tons of ideas...I think The next release will be another positive surprise for our fans, I love the new stuff very much, definitely cool...

As my last question I propose our usual and typical Gryphonmetal last
question..... I call this question 'The game of the Tower'  there is a very high tower,
and on the tower three bands are waiting for you and you have to push down two of them to let them fall saving the third one.

For you the three bands are:Type O negative, Dream Theater, Paradise Lost.

...hehehe it's not easy but I would save Type 'o' Negative, this band is fantastic...

Thank you Ivan so much!
