The Italian band strikes back with a very amazing CD "Dove Tutto È Possibile" and gets a super guest: Daniel Gildenlöw  from Pain of Salvation in the song "L`Assenza".  Our Salvo Russo interviewed guitarists Alessandro Galdieri and Romolo D`Amaro via Skype. It seems very interesting ;)...let's read!

  [20.58.09] SalvoRusso: allora..intanto mi fa piacere reintervistarti....e inizio subito facendoti una domanda ...."Ho notato che in questo cd, c'è un miglioramento pazzesco rispetto a l precedente, ci stanno parecchie influenze tutte ben mescolate e direi, che sia dal punto di vista degli arrangiamenti che dal punto delle scelte stilistiche non avete posto limiti...qual è stato il vostro modo di lavorare?

Hey first of all, I’m glad to have another interview with you. My first question is : I noticed a very great improvement in this new album  comparing to the previous one; there are a lot of influences well blended for what concerns arrangements, but also the general approach to the music is better… How did you work to make this new album?

[21.03.13] Alessandro Galdieri: prima di tutto il piacere è tutto il nostro.... riguardo la composizione e gli arrangiamenti, come hai detto già tu, non abbiamo posto limiti alle nostre  fantasie musicali...ma le abbiamo amplificate redendo così un prodotto che ci rispecchia molto soprattutto dopo le tante esperienze passate....quindi è stato tutto molto spontaneo anche nella ricerca delle sonorità...è venuto tutto da sé nel nostro studio...

The pleasure is all ours! In general, we didn’t put bounds to our creativity both for arrangements and compositions, but we tried to enhance them in order to make the songs become the mark of what we are now, after a lot of experiences. Everything has been created spontaneously, also for what concerns the musical sound research, everything came up by itself…

[21.05.09] SalvoRusso: Bene ma ho notato anche per i testi ...avete trattato argomenti più profondi, scavare nell'io, per ritrovare la forza interiore di andare contro tutto e cercare di raggiungere i propri obbiettivi..quindi in un certo senso oltre al tunnel ci puo essere la luce...un impegno stilistico non indifferente...che si adatta alle atmosfere dell'album...da dove vengono questi testi?

Well, I noticed that also all lyrics deal with deep topics …they try to dig inside yourself to find the inner strength …trying to face the world to reach your goals…the essence of them could be translated as …”There’s the light at the end of the tunnel…” there’s a great engagement concerning the lyrics and they fit perfectly with the music…Where did you find the inspiration?

[21.10.20] Alessandro Galdieri: siamo contenti che hai notato questo cambiamento nei testi.....sai...a distanza di 5 anni dal nostro precedente lavoro, sono accadute tante cose...positive e negative....quando si parla di testi è sempre un pò difficile dare una provenienza, perchè alla fine sono attimi della nostra vita e non solo......questa volta abbiamo avuto anche collaborazione nei testi...giusto per citarne uno che è quello di DAniel Zappi (cantautore inglese) nella canzone L'Assenza, scrivendo uno dei piu bei testi dell'album...

We are happy that you noticed this change! Now that 5 years have passed since the first album issue, I can affirm that we got through many situations. If we talk about lyrics, it’s not easy to tell about their origin, because those are slices of life!!! Moreover, this time we had some good collaborations, and one of these is by Daniel Zappi (English songwriter) for “L’Assenza” that in my opinion is one of the best lyrics of this album...

[21.12.36] SalvoRusso: il cambiamento ha uno "spread" altissimo se mi passi il termine..e naturalmente in positivo...ma ho notato che non solo avete scavato nell'io ma avte azzardato un pezzo in stile rap...in cui avete duramente messo in luce quelle che sono le sensazioni degli italiani...una canzone davvero ..bella ma profonda che vede tra l'altro una partecipazione importante...che mi dici a riguardo?

Your change gets a very high “spread” in a positive way and its incredible how you dare to release a rap style song in which you tell about Italian public’s feeling towards politics; a very great song in which you have found an important guest…isn’t it?

[21.17.16] Alessandro Galdieri: "La Penisola che non c'è" è una canzone che non avremmo mai immaginato di poter mettere in un nostro album soprattutto per quando riguarda il testo....però era l'unico modo per esorcizzare quello che sta accadendo nel nostro paese ancor di più qui nel sud, e chi meglio dei "Fuossera" potevano far parte, visto che loro vivono ancor di più questa realtà... ti dico un piccolo aneddoto...uno dei primi concerti che abbiamo fatto con i Tristema è stato a Piazza Dante a Napoli (2007) e lì conoscemmo i Fuossera e da allora è stato amore a prima vista haha :)

“La Penisola che non c’è” is another incredible song, one of those we couldn’t ever imagine to include in our release, in particular for what concerns the lyrics, but I really think that it was the only way to ward off the fear;  the song tells about what is happening in our Country and in particular here in the south , and there’s no better band  than Fuossera for this role!!! They really live this reality …now I tell you a good story; we met in 2007, it was one of our concerts, and I can affirm that since the first moment it was a spontaneous and mutual sympathy between us! :)

[21.19.49] SalvoRusso: avete perfettamente unito la melodia al rap come nessuno...con il vostro stile, senza perdere l'identità della vostra musica, facendo una grande canzone.....ma questo album ha anche altre partecipazioni, e una in partcolare quella del vocalist dei Pain of Salvation, che tra l'altro canta in una canzone stupenda dai toni molto forti, all'interno di una canzone elaborata con mood molto intimista ed acustico...com è stata questa collaborazione?

You blend rap & rock as nobody did till now…without losing your musical identity and making a very great song!! This is not the only guest, there’s another important singer who gave his contribution.. and I’m talking about Pain of Salvation singer, that sings in a very intense way..a deep song , realized by an acoustic arrangement. How was this collaboration?

[21.25.19] Alessandro Galdieri: SENZA PAROLE...i Pain of Salvation per noi ma soprattutto per me (Alessandro) sono stati sempre una della band che abbiamo seguito..ed è nato tutto per gioco....io (Alessandro) da parecchio tempo stavo in contatto con Daniel, essendo un superfan l'ho seguito anche fuori Italia, bando alle ciance....gli mandai la canzone proponendogli questa feauturing, e dopo un pò di tempo ci siamo ritrovati le sue voci nell'email...posso dire che è stata una delle cose piu emozionanti della nostra carriera....il tuo idolo che canta la tua canzone con te.....un grande artista e una grande persona.......(piccola anticipazione) su questo brano ad agosto ne vedrete delle belle ;)

I’m speechless! Pain of Salvation are (for me in particular, Alessandro) one of my favorite bands ever, and it came up like a joke!!! I knew Daniel since a long time ago; considering that I’m a very super-fan, I followed him also outside of Italy  “stop the cackle” J …I sent him a song , proposing him this collaboration and after some time he sent us back his voices in the mail!! It was very emotional for us and our career in general! Your idol that sings in your song!! A great artist and a great person!! A little anticipation…about this song …You just wait for it in August ;)

 [21.27.45] SalvoRusso: ho notato tanto feeling....ritornando alle lyrics, anche la lingua italiana viene esaltata attraverso un linguaggio molto curato non solo nei contenuti ma anche nell'utilizzo di frasi e parole dal sapore poetico, un cambiamento radicale rispetto all altro album che era piu easy da questo punto di vista e non solo...come è avvenuto questo cambiamento? quanto è importante il testo nel rock italiano?

I noticed powerful emotions , and lyrics are written by refined Italian language , not only for what concerns the contents but also the polished language …A radical change comparing to the previous album that was less cared under this aspect …how did you develop this change?

[21.32.03] Alessandro Galdieri: il cambiamento è dovuto sempre al grande ZINGARELLI hahaha....scherzi a parte... alla fine è sempre il solito discorso....l'esperienza fa tanto.. ti porta a capire cosa è giusto e cosa è sbagliato ..come ben saprai...la difficolta di un testo, è racchiudere un idea a volte anche complessa in pochi concetti.......alla fine se hai qualcosa da dire il testo è importante in qualsiasi genere....anche perchè ormai la musica è contaminata in tutti i sensi..la mamma è una sola e si chiama MUSICA!

The change is thanks to ZINGARELLI (italian vocabulary) hahaha..I’m joking J it’s always the same story, experience makes you better , it makes you to understand the right and wrong things, the difficult in writing lyrics is to collect ideas in few lines , in general if you have something important to tell , the lyrics becomes important and it’s indifferent the style of music played.
Nowadays all music styles are blended together …we usually say…you only have one mother, and she is called Music!

[21.33.05] SalvoRusso: esatto....oper la musica ho trovato di tutto...la matrice rock, viene mescolata al prog, all'acustico al folk...alla tecno!!!!!!!cosa è successo!?? :)

Rock background is blended with prog, acoustic, folk, tecno!?!?!....what has happened?

[21.37.24] Alessandro Galdieri: speravo che la soluzione ce l'avresti potuta dare tu con l'ascolto del cd haha....cosa è successo ancora non si sà, ma siamo pienamente soddisfatti del risultato finale...i Tristema sono questi...è capace che nel prossimo album ci sarà un pezzo Black Metal insieme a Nino D'Angelo :)

I really trusted in your solutions through the listening of our album J what is happened is still unknown , but we can affirm to be satisfied about the final result. Tristema are this!!! We could mix a black metal  song with Nino D’angelo  (Italian melodic pop singer) :)

[21.38.55] SalvoRusso: e direi...e aggiungo senza snaturare il vostro sound...è questo quello che mi ha colpito....molto....il fatto che siete sempre voi....ma riuscite a fare di tutto....il trucco sta nel mantenere una linea...di personalita nella musica....non pesni? personalita come atteggiamento nella composizione e nel modo in cui si ci rapporta alla canzone...concordi?

I add that you didn’t distort the essence of your sound, it strikes me that if you play rap, rock, folk or something different… Tristema are always Tristema !!!The trick is to keep up your personality…isn’t it? Personality intended as musical attitude for what concerns compositions and the way you approach to the songs….do you agree?

[21.43.18] Alessandro Galdieri: assolutamente si e ci fa piacere sentirtelo dire...ti dirò di più, abbiamo avuto più di un occasione per diventare Boy Band(bambolotti porta soldi) ma abbiamo sempre preferito andare per la nostra nostra strada e dire quello che volevamo..dire a modo nostro senza compromessi, anche se a volte per ottenere quello che vuoi bisogna sacrificare qualcosa..

It’s a pleasure to hear that from you! I add that we had the chance to become a boy band( baby doll for money business) but we preferred to go on our own way, to tell about who we really are and our world without compromises , even if  we had to sacrifice something else.

[21.45.50] SalvoRusso: e ma questo vi fa onore....tra l'altro la vostra sensibilita musicale ha un valore maggiore e speriamo che da qualche parte arrivi....c'è sempre un tocco di rock finlandese nella vostra musica...lho percepito in due canzoni in particolare..."nel silenzo" e "vortice" dove anche li  sapete alternare vari generi....pero il tocco finnish c'è sempre...confermi?

It’s an honor to you, your musical sensitiveness is great…i really hope  you’ll reach important goals!
There’s always a touch of Finland, I notice it in particular in two songs…”nel silenzio” and “vortice” in which you alternate Finnish sound to other influences…agree?

[21.48.21] Alessandro Galdieri:  bhè non ti nascondono che  molti di noi ascoltano molte realtà scandinave, soprattuto io(alessandro)  e quindi sicuramente qualcosa nel cervello si deposita per poi uscirne nelle nostre idee...

there’s no disguising the fact that most of us usually listen to Scandinavian bands in particular me..(Alessandro) and surely something remains in our brains, ready to come out as inspiration for our songs...

[21.49.32] SalvoRusso: esatto...senti volevo chiderti qualcosa sulle vostre esperienze live con grandi artisti...qualche aneddoto del backstage? cosa hai imparato da queste esperienze? quanto ti cambiano?

I want to ask you something about your music live experiences as support band of great artists…are there some good stories about them? What did you learn? Did they change you?

[21.53.13] Alessandro Galdieri: noi vendendo comunque da una realtà emergente ci aspettavamo chissà quale grandi mondi, ma alla fine ti rendi conto che non è così....e questo ci ha dato una motivazione in più e ci ha fatto rendere conto che è una cosa che possiamo raggiungere...certo suonare d'avanti a migliaia di persona, come all'apertura del concerto di Vasco, ci ha fatto capire che quel palco un giorno deve essere nostro!!

We were coming from a not important  musical circle  and we really expected something special from those artists , but finally you realize that it’s like that, and it gave us a further motivation to go on for reaching what  we really want , because it’s not too far!!!
We played in front of thousand people for a Vasco Rossi concert and it has made us eager and motivated, because one day we want that stage all for us!!

[21.53.38] SalvoRusso: dove ti vedi tra cinque anni con i Tristema?

Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?

[21.56.04] Alessandro Galdieri: a parlare con salvo russo sul terzo e perchè nò sul quarto album dei tristema, prodotto da un'etichetta "INTELLIGENTE" dopo una tournè europea (per non dire mondiale hehe)

Where? I see myself talking with you about the third album, and why not…the fourth album….produced by a smart label after an European or worldwide tour! 

[21.57.50] SalvoRusso: questo mi riempie d'orgoglio...e me lo auguro/ ve lo auguro....alla grande....ti faccio altre due domande....per l'intervista...una perche avete avuto anche un'altra partecipazione sull'album, quella di Paola Salurso...in cui ambientate un po qualcosa vicino al folk....cosa mi dici anche di lei?

It makes me proud J I really wish you the best!!!Now  let’s talk about the other guest in this album, I’m talking about Paola Salurso. Her good performance into a folk acoustic rock song, what about her?

[22.01.16] Alessandro Galdieri: "L'Eclissi" forse è uno dei brani davvero più particolari dell'album perché oltre a Paola, che è una delle piu grandi voci della nostra terra(già presente con noi nella rivisitazione della Tammurriata nera), abbiamo avuto il piacere e l'onore di condividere queste note insieme al maestro Francesco Citera (fisarmonica) Rocco Basile (Contrabbasso) e MArco Bruno (BAtteria)..possiamo dire che è un vero e proprio omaggio alla nostra terra.

L’Eclissi is one of the most suggestive songs of this album, because beyond Paola’s contribution that is one of the best Italian voices ( she collaborated with us for “Tammurriata nera “ remake) we had the honor  and the pleasure to share these emotions with the master “ Francesco Citera (squeeze-box) Rocco Barile (double-bass) and Marco Bruno (drums) and overall we can affirm that it pays homage to our country.

  [22.03.11] SalvoRusso: beh...è vero, ma una musica ben fatta...è sempre ben fatta...senti ultima domanda...ti chiedo , quali sono i programmi dell band imminenti...ci saranno concerti....eventi?

As last question, I tell you something about the imminent programs, have you got anything arranged? Will there be concerts, events?

[22.05.50] Alessandro Galdieri: stiamo programmando la presentazione ufficiale dell'album accompagnato da un successivo tour in Italia (almeno per il momento) e questa volta però punteremo anche sui singoli creando diversi video musicali....

[22.06.11] Alessandro Galdieri: e tante piccole sorprese ;)

We’re arranging the official album presentation and afterwards an Italy tour will start (only Italian at the moment). For this album we have planned to release singles and some musical videos….and other little surprises ;)
