After half and one year………TO DIE FOR come back!!! I love this band from the debut album in which Tapelo & c. were able to create a sound influenced by 80’s but with a heavy distortion and romantic parts a là Him!!!! In
2001 “Epilogue” was influenced by synth,…….in 2003 Jaded
improves what I listened to in “Epilogue”…..9
melodic songs in which it’s easy to enter in a fantastic atmosphere
ruled by a band that play their music with passion & love. Heavy
distorsion, and a perfect rhythmical session rules all these songs …where
the melody joins the heavy!!! “I
just died in your arms” is a Cutting Crew’s song (80’s
pop-rock band), and TDF show their passion for 80’s pop….this is the
third cover after “In the heat of the night” and “It’s a sin”…and
here as the other songs the sound is very influenced by synth….”The
unknown II” is the second part of the same title song contained in
“Epilogue”……There are a lot of synths and keyboards while guitar
solos are not present as in their other cds. Tapelo’s voice becomes
strong in many songs but I think he gives the best of himself in low
tones .His voice reminds me the 80’s vocalists…..(Talk Talk, Freur)
!!!! There’s
a very special song that is “Silence tells more”……..
something fantastic!!!!!!!A special atmosphere involves this song…….A
whispered voice and a gothic chorus joins the deepness of a decaying
melody……..i ‘d say…..THIS IS THE DARKNESS!!!!!!….But…how
passion it is!!!! “Too
much ain’t enough” is hard and speed, but the melody is very
beautiful like in the title track as well , in which the
arrangements have been performed with brilliant care! The technique of all musicians is very good………..and there’s also a very hard song called “Forever” in which guitars remind me In Flames although the song is different from their kind of compositions!!!! The production is at the top ….as well as the care put in the artwork. To/
Die/ For represents new gothic metal
in this new century but their melodies may be appreciated by 80’s
impassioned and from all those who like hard guitars mixed with melodic
music!!!! From me: only one advice…….. buy
this album!!!!!!!!!!! Salvo Russo 09.03.2003 |
