A cut above average!

Vreid are back with their fifth album called "V", released again by Indie Recordings. The four prolific Norwegian musicians (who since 2004 -year in which the band was grounded- pressed 5 full lengths, one DVD -recorded at 'Inferno Festival, Oslo- and one single) still go on walking a quite original path that always gets  Black Metal as  cornerstone, although enriched by elements that you can almost link back to  Prog metal and  Pagan / Viking of course (just remember Windir, pre-Vreid band).
Vreid have always managed to convince  100% thanks to their fairly high technical skills and to their ability to create involving epic songs  that are never predictable, never banal or kitsch ...

 
This latest album still manages to further define their sound. Now you can really talk about a "Vreid sound". There is a bit 'of everything: speed, power, technique, melody. The production is clean and powerful (this is a basic need from the moment that this genre is so rich in details).
Vreid are able to create  a mix of metal-sound by merging perfectly so many influences. Nothing has being forced. Everything
fits perfectly.
I admit that I'm not very open minded when it comes to listen to music, but here I must judge an album in its entirety without getting involved too much in my favorite sounds, and while listening to songs like "Fire On The Mountain," "Welcome To The Asylum" or "Slave" I must necessarily admit that I have to do with very engaging music...
What can I say more? Listen to this album even if you are fans of more extreme genres or  softer ones! Because here classifications don't fit, and I assure you that you will find many interesting things in "V". Congratulations to these great musicians, always a cut above average!

Una spanna sopra la media.

Tornano i Vreid con il loro quinto album chiamato "V" sempre su Indie Recordings. I quattro prolifici musicisti norvegesi, che dal 2004 (anno di formazione) hanno dato alle stampe ben 5 full length, un dvd (registrato all' Inferno festival, Oslo) e un singolo, continuano a percorrere una via abbastanza originale che ha sempre come base portante il Black Metal ma che viene arricchito da elementi quasi riconducibili al prog e naturalmente al Pagan / Viking metal (ricordate i Windir, band pre Vreid). 
I Vreid sono sempre riusciti a convincere al 100% grazie a doti tecniche abbastanza elevate, alla loro capacità di creare brani coinvolgenti dal sapore epico senza mai risultare scontati, banali o troppo "pacchiani"... 
Questo loro ultimo disco riesce ancora di più a definire il loro sound. Adesso si puo veramente parlare di Vreid Sound. C'è un po' di tutto: velocità, potenza, tecnica, melodia. La produzione è pulita e potente (necessità fondamentale visto il genere così ricco di particolari). 
I Vreid sono in grado di creare un miscuglio di Metal sound amalgamando alla perfezione tantissime influenze. Niente risulta essere forzato. Tutto si incastra alla perfezione. 
Io ammetto di non essere molto open minded nei miei ascolti, ma in questa sede devo per forza giudicare un album nella sua interezza senza lasciarmi coinvolgere troppo dalle mie sonorità preferite e ascoltando brani come "Fire on the Mountain", "Welcome to the Asylum" o "Slave" si deve per forza ammettere di avere a che fare con della musica molto interessante... 
Che dire di più? Ascoltate questo disco anche se siete fans di generi più estremi o più soft perchè qui le etichette stanno strette e vi assicuro che troverete tante cose interessanti all'interno di questo album. Complimenti a questi grandi musicisti, sempre una spanna sopra la media!
