Young
bands get opportunity.
The
Collection of Scars Tour is a Tour where young bands get the
opportunity playin’ shows in different cities across Switzerland
in order to build up a larger fan base.
For this time, Basel was the next city and Darrow and Areion were
hired as local support acts in advance. Unfortunately, Darrow had to cancel their show, because a medial emergency in the
family of a band member occurred. However an appropriate
replacement was found with Swiss act Disconnect.
The Aargauer Disconnect
started their show on 8:30 PM. Many spectators were excited for
the live performance. There were even Punks in the audience next
to Metal heads, Hardcore Fans and two Gothic Girls and this
emerged in an interesting audience mix. Disconnect
convinced with a catchy mixture of Punk Rock and Hardcore and
attracted much applause from the audience. Some spectators started
moshin’ and enjoyed the sound. Guitar player Tsonga left the
stage several times in order to rock in front of the spectators.
One song was dedicated to the Belgians Campus, a band which split
up one day ago. And the last track was dedicated to every single
spectator before the show ended.

Areion
was
the next act. Singer Torsten Nagel and his band members could
score with their heavy mix of Metal- and Deathcore with elements
of Lamb of God, Hatesphere and Madball and got the audience on
their side when the first tunes had blown out the speakers. You
couldn’t only see this at the applause, but also at the
moshin’ and violent dancing of some spectators. The only live
act from Basel left many smilin’ faces with this great
performance.

could step their game up. Their performance wasn’t just
outstanding, but singer Mike Huber was able to create a wall of
death. Despite the small room, it was executed with much drive.
Their breakdowns weren’t only responsible for head banging, but
for moshin’ and violent dancing either. Unfortunately, it was
hot in the room, but every song was celebrated until the last one
got played and the audience said goodbye with much applause.

Morrigu
was
the headliner at a late hour. The Zurich act about drummer Merlin
(who’s also the drummer of Swiss Folk Metal Act Eluveitie) and
singer Jeremy Prescott had bad luck with fewer spectators, but
they didn’t quit and kicked ass. Their mix of Pantera and Lamb
of God was well received. Some spectators had been settin’ the
mood with a circle pit and practiced violent dancing one more
time. The band started as a Death Doom Act, but they changed their
musical style very much and I noticed it during the show.

Die
Collection of Scars Tour ist eine Tour, welche jungen Bands die Möglichkeit
bietet Konzerte in verschiedenen Schweizer Städten zu spielen und
dadurch eine grössere Fangemeinde aufzubauen.
Dieses
Mal stand Basel auf dem Programm und mit Areion
und Darrow wurden im
Vorfeld als Support zwei Basler Lokal Bands ins Boot geholt.
Bedauerlicherweise mussten Darrow
ihre Show absagen, wegen eines medizinischen Notfalls in der
Familie eines Bandmitgliedes. Jedoch wurde mit den Schweizern von Disconnect
ein adäquater Ersatz gefunden.
Um
20:30 Uhr durften die Aargauer Disconnect
los legen. Zahlreiche Zuschauer waren gespannt darauf wie sich
die Jungs präsentieren würden. Neben Metallern, Hardcore Fans
und zwei Gothic Girls waren sogar Punks anwesend was eine
interessante Publikum Durchmischung ergab. Mit einem eingängigen
Gemisch aus Punk Rock und Hardcore konnten Disconnect
überzeugen und bekamen Applaus vom Publikum. Einzelne
Zuschauer liessen sich auf Gemoshe ein und genossen die Musik.
Gitarrist Tsonga verliess mehrmals die Bühne um vor den Augen der
Zuschauer abzurocken. Ein Song wurde der belgischen Band Campus
gewidmet, die sich einen Tag zuvor aufgelöst hatte. Und bevor der
Auftritt zu Ende war, wurde der letzte Song allen Zuschauern
gewidmet.

nächste Band war Areion
an der Reihe. Mit ihrem brachialen Metal- / Deathcore Mischung mit
Elementen von Lamb of God, Hatesphere und Madball konnten Sänger
Torsten Nagel und seine Jungs das Publikum von Anfang an auf ihre
Seite ziehen. Dies zeigte sich nicht nur beim Applaus, sondern
auch beim darauffolgenden Gemoshe und Violent Dancing einzelner
Zuschauer. Durch diesen starken Auftritt sorgten sie als einzige
Basler Band für zufriedene Gesichter.

konnten noch eine Schippe drauflegen. Nicht nur war der Auftritt
hochkarätig, viel mehr konnte Sänger Mike Huber eine Wall of
Death initiieren, welche dann mit vollem Elan durchgeführt wurde,
trotz des kleinen Raumes. Mit ihren Breakdowns sorgten sie nicht
nur für Kopfnicker, sondern auch für eine ordentliche Portion
Gemoshe, Headbangen und Violent Dancing. Leider war es sehr heiss
im Raum, aber trotzdem wurde bis zum letzten Song gerockt und dass
Publikum verabschiedete die Band mit viel Applaus.

später Stunde waren Morrigu
als Headliner an der Reihe. Die Zürcher um Schlagzeuger Merlin
(ist auch Schlagzeuger bei den Schweizer Folk Metallern Eluveitie)
und Sänger Jeremy Prescott hatten zwar das Pech, dass weniger
Zuschauer anwesend waren, machten aber aus der Not eine Tugend und
gaben Vollgas. Ihr Mix aus Pantera und Lamb of God stiess auf
offene Ohren und wurde begeisternd aufgenommen. Einige Zuschauer
sorgten mit einem Circle Pit für Stimmung oder zeigten nochmals
Violent Dancing. Die ursprünglich als Death Doom gestartete Band
hat ihren musikalischen Styl sehr verändert und dies wurde mir während
der Show bewusst.

23:40 Uhr war der Auftritt zu Ende. Zurück bleibt ein guter
Eindruck. Danke an die Organisation von Darrow,
welche den Event auf die Beine gestellt hatten und die Bands für
ihre tollen Performances!
