drummer .
Quoting founding member

”we are very glad to
announce the addition of Xul

offering flawless and
exceptional performances.

Into Eternity
|
|
Tim Roth
of the Regina,
Saskatchewan-based
progressive metallers INTO
ETERNITY has
posted the following message
on the band's official web
site:
"It's really nice to
take it easy at home. All
the guys have been
recovering after a year of
hard touring. It was an
amazing year for our band.
There are so many people
that we would like to thank
for that. Without the fans
coming and supporting us,
there would be no shows. For
that we are very proud of
our new fan base. We hope to
see you all next year on the
road.
"All of December we
plan on taking off. In the
meantime we will be writing
our music for the next INTO
ETERNITY album, which we
plan on recording in early
spring. It will be good to
recharge our batteries and
live a 'normal' life for
awhile. The main focus now
will be our new record. I
know we have the talent now
to come up with some great
songs. After doing 140
shows, I think the guys are
all comfortable with every
aspect of the band. The new
songs should prove it all we
hope."
INTO ETERNITY's
upcoming CD will be the
group's first with singer Stu
Block of Vancouver's OMEGA
CROM. The band's third
album, "Buried In
Oblivion", was
released in February 2004
through Century Media
Records. As was the case
with their previous two
albums, "Buried In
Oblivion" was
recorded at Touchwood
Studios in Regina with
ex-bassist Scott Krall,
Grant Hall and Johnny
"Sixpack" Gasparic
handling the majority of
production duties.

Memorized Dreams
|
|
Norwegian
progressive power metallers MEMORIZED
DREAMS have ended
their co-operation with Sound
Riot Records. "This
takes effect immediately and
the band [are] actively
seek[ing] a label to release
[their] next album, 'End
of Innocence'," the
group write in a statement.
"During the last year
it has been almost
impossible to get in touch
with the label, and two
mails, as the only
correspondence since this
summer, it shows the lack of
professionalism you should
expect from your label. The
situation topped itself when
the band suddenly was
removed from Sound Riot's
webpage, without any notice
or explanation. By that time
the band has already decided
to leave the label, but it
shows a complete lack of
professionalism. As we have
come to know, this hasn’t
only happened to MEMORIZED
DREAMS, but also many
other bands signed to this
label, so this should stand
as a clear warning. The band
is now looking for a more
professional label, to
release the next album,
suitably named 'End of
Innocence'."
MEMORIZED DREAMS
issued their debut album, "Theater
of Life", in April
2004 through Sound Riot.
The CD was recorded at Skansen
Lydstudio in Trondheim,
Norway with producer Stein
Bratland and featured a
guest appearance on the
track "Gates of
Heaven" by singer Olaf
Hayer (DIONYSUS, LUCA
TURILLI, LORD BYRON).
Mastering duties were
handled by Tommy Newton
at Area 51 Studios in
Germany.

following update:
"It has been an amazing
couple of years for us and
we are just blown away by
the overwhelming response we
have received around the
world. We are about to go
into writing hibernation and
pool our collective
experiences together to make
another bad-ass record. So
far what we have written is
faster, heavier and darker
than anything we have ever
done. We will unleash the
best record of our lives
next summer. With us a ton
of touring is imminent when
we put out a record, so we
will be back to all the
places we traveled to the
past two years and even add
a few more countries and
continents to the list in
2006 and 2007.
"As for our last few
shows of the album cycle, we
will be playing in Boston,
Portland and Providence
before we go away for a
while. Playing all three of
these cities is something we
used to do every other
weekend back in the day, but
we haven't been to either
place in at least two years
so we felt the need to visit
again before we are done. It
is something we are looking

playing are bands we hand

Pain
|
|
PAIN
mainman Peter Tägtgren
has posted the following
message on the group's
official web site:
"The brand new DVD 'Live
Is Overrated' is out now
on Metal Mind, and
features two concerts from
Poland! There is a lot of
bonus shit on there as well,
so it's worth checking out
if you want to see what the
live set looks like these
days... Yours truly gave it
a proper mix, so it sounds
fucking good as well! It
comes in two different
versions — a normal one,
and a limited edition
digi-pak version.
"The work continues
with my covers album. I've
cut a few songs already, and
a couple of examples of
songs that have been pain-ified
are BJÖRK's 'I
Play Dead' and DEPECHE
MODE's 'Behind The
Wheel'. Watch this space
for more covers as I get
them done!
"Believe it or not, but
I've started work on a new
'normal' PAIN album,
and have got two songs down.
They are heavy as fuck and
are — as the English would
say — the dog's bollocks.
I'm just heading off on a
European tour with HYPOCRISY,
but have booted up my laptop
to include a full recording
studio, so I'll be spending
the hours of travel getting
new songs down.
"Have your say on the
cover album! Here's your
chance to let me know what
you think! Send me your
suggestion of a song that
needs to be fucked up by me
for the cover album! The
winner will have his
suggestion covered, and
mentioned on the sleeve!
E-mail your suggestions to
cover@pain.cd.
"While we're at it -
why not have a competition.
Just answer this simple
question: on the last PAIN
tour, we had a new,
fantastic drummer (since Horgh
moved over to HYPOCRISY...).
What's his name? Answer that
and the winner gets to pick
up a signed copy of the new
DVD (of course the nice,
shiny limited edition
version). E-mail your answer
to contest@pain.cd. Don't
forget to include your name
and address."
PAIN's latest album, "Dancing
With the Dead",
debuted at position No. 3 on
the Swedish album chart in
late January. The follow-up
to 2002's "Nothing
Remains The Same"
was released in continental
Europe in March.

Mortician
|
|
Poland's Gazeta
Wyborcza is reporting that
MORTICIAN
vocalist/bassist Will
Rahmer is likely to spend
the next few weeks at a Polish
jail while the prosecutors
prepare an indictment against
him for robbery with a
dangerous weapon. The judges
from the Polish town of Krosno
Odrzanskie (where Rahmer
is currently being held) have
accepted a proposal from the
prosecutors to detain Rahmer
for up to three months in
accordance with the Polish
law.
In addition to the charge of
robbery with a dangerous
weapon, the prosecutors will
likely charge Rahmer
for resisting arrest and
assault on a police officer.
Rahmer, 36, was
arrested by the Polish police
after he allegedly assaulted a
taxi driver with a knife and
stole a taxi cab following the
group's performance in the
Polish city of Zielona Gora on
Sunday (Nov. 13).
Rahmer reportedly
called a cab after MORTICIAN's
concert in Zielona Gora (which
the other MORTICIAN
members performed without Rahmer)
and requested to be taken to
the Berlin airport so that he
could fly back to the United
States. He allegedly paid the
driver 200 euros for the ride,
but apparently went berserk
when he was unable to reach
someone on his mobile phone. Rahmer
allegedly proceeded to attempt
to gain control of the
vehicle, in the process
causing a small cut to the
cabdriver's neck with his
knife. The driver managed to
escape and contacted the
police. He was subsequently
taken to the hospital, where
he received two stitches. In
the meantime, Will
stole the car and drove
himself to the Polish/German
border crossing in Swiecko,
where he allegedly got into a
scuffle with the authorities
before being detained.
At the time of his arrest, Rahmer
was reportedly not carrying
any additional cash or a valid
passport. He was, however, in
possession of at least one
knife and a set of knucklers,
according to Gazeta Lubuska.
Speaking to the police through
a translator, Rahmer
apparently offered a very
different account of what
transpired to the version
given by the taxidriver.
MORTICIAN
were in the middle of a
European tour with BLOOD RED THRONE
and AKERCOCKE when the
incident took place. The group
are said to be continuing the
trek, with members of BLOOD RED THRONE
and AKERCOCKE
assisting with bass and vocal
duties

today news about DISSECTION
- CONFESSOR
|

Dissection
|
|
Swedish death
metallers DISSECTION
have parted ways with recently
recruited bassist Haakon
Forwald (a.k.a. General
K; MYRKSKOG, DISIPLIN).
The group's official statement
on the matter reads as
follows:
"As a result of bassist Haakon
Forwald's family situation
back home in Norway and his
initiatory work with the
Norwegian cell division of the
Misanthropic Luciferian
Order (MLO), it has
been decided that Forwald
will step back from the
position as DISSECTION's
bass player in order to focus
on his esoteric and exoteric
work in Norway. DISSECTION
wish Forwald the best
of luck on the path to
anti-cosmic gnosis and thank
him for his time with the
band. This will not affect the
two upcoming shows in Sweden
and Germany booked for
December and January [December
30 at Kolingsborg (The Shrine)
in Stockholm, Sweden and
January 28 at the Winternoize
Festival in Osnabrück,
Germany] where DISSECTION
for the last time ever will
perform a set based solely on
the old albums! Bass player
candidates already exist and
are currently being tried out
in rehearsals!"
DISSECTION recently
reacquired the rights to their
classic "Storm of the
Lights Bane" album
from Nuclear Blast. In
addition, Black Lodge's
licensing rights to the
group's 1993 debut, "The
Somberlain", will
expire in December. Both
albums are currently out of
print and will be re-issued by
the label to which DISSECTION
will sign for their next
album.
DISSECTION entered the
studio on February 2 to begin
recording their long-awaited
third album, the group's first
release since "Storm
of the Light's Bane".
The recording is taking place
at Black Syndicate Studios
in Stockholm, Sweden, with DISSECTION
mainman Jon Nödtveidt's
brother Emil Nödtveidt
(a.k.a. THE DEATHSTARS'
Nightmare Industries)
and Skinny Kangur at
the helm. Eleven songs are
being recorded for the album
and the material is being
regarded by the band as
"a work of sonic black
magic, actively channelling
the anti-cosmic current
218." Rough-mix versions
of two new songs from DISSECTION's
forthcoming CD are available
for download on their official
web site. Check out the tracks
"Xeper-I-Set"
(mp3,
lyrics)
and "Starless Aeon"
(mp3,
lyrics).
DISSECTION are
currently in negotiations with
several labels for the
upcoming release, but the
recordings are being
completely financed by the
band itself independent of any
record company. A final
decision about the group's new
label home is expected to be
made soon.

Confessor
|
|
Reunited North
Carolina-based progressive
metallers CONFESSOR
will be opening for LAMB OF
GOD at their hometown show
on November 27 at The Canal
Club in Richmond, Virginia.
CONFESSOR announced the
final track listing for their
live DVD, which was filmed in
late September in Oslo,
Norway. In addition to the
live performance, the disc
will feature other bonuses,
such as the music video for "Wig
Stand", footage from
the studio, and a little
surprise from CONFESSOR's
drummer Steve Shelton!
An early 2006 release is
expected.
CONFESSOR's live DVD
will feature the following
track listing:
01. Collapse Into Despair
02. Cross The Bar
03. Prepare Yourself
04. The Downside
05. Sour Times
06. Uncontrolled
07. Wig Stand
08. Eve of Salvation
09. Suffer
CONFESSOR have just
released their new full-length
album, "Unraveled",
via Season of Mist. The
CD was produced by Dick
Hodgin (ex-CORROSION OF
CONFORMITY producer) and
is "a wonderful
representation of the classic CONFESSOR
twisted guitar riffing and
complex drumming, meshed with
some more straightforward
parts and a toned down and
very melodic vocal
approach," according to
vocalist Scott Jeffreys.
"We feel that the new
album will certainly appeal to
the old-school CONFESSOR
fans and also will attract a
brand new fan base who might
not have heard us when we were
together before."
CONFESSOR split up in
the early '90s after releasing
one full-length album (1991's "Condemned")
and EP (1992's "Confessor"),
with the with the rhythm
section going on to form FLY
MACHINE. CONFESSOR
reformed in 2002 following the
death of guitarist Ivan
Colon, who passed away due
to cardiac complications

Georg Laakso (Turisas)
|
|
Guitarist Georg
Laakso of the Finnish
"pagan battle metal"
act TURISAS
was seriously injured in a car
accident outside Hämeenlinna,
Finland the night of October
27-28. The following update on
his condition has been posted
at the group's official web
site:
"The last two weeks have
been an extremely hard time
for us and we hope that you
understand how difficult it
has been for us to come out
with an update on Georg's
condition. There have been
days when the situation has
appeared to be very dark, as
well as days bringing good
news and glimpses of hope. Georg's
condition is now somewhat
stable, but still extremely
severe and the risk of
different complications is
still evident. The following
part will give you more
information on what actually
happened and how things have
moved on since then.
"The accident took place
two weeks ago, on the night
between Thursday and Friday
(Oct. 27-28) when, for a
reason still unknown, Georg's
car swerved off the highway,
crashing through an elk-fence
before coming to a halt 60
meters farther ahead. The
first reports on the accident
did not come in before early
Friday morning and the first
police patrol was at the scene
around 8 am. They, however,
did not notice the unconscious
Georg who was lying on
the ground approximately 5
meters from the vehicle.
Neither did the following
patrol which came to the scene
later in the afternoon to add
some more police tape in the
fence as a signal to the
motorists passing by that the
police had already been there.
Georg was reported
missing on Friday afternoon.
It was not before 6 pm Georg's
brother found him at the scene
of the accident and called the
emergency number. When Georg
was lifted up from the ground
his heart stopped beating. At
that point he had been lying
unconscious on the icy ground
for some 12 hours minimum, and
his body temperature had gone
down to 20.1 °C. No other
persons were involved in the
accident.
"Georg was rushed
to Hämeenlinna Central
Hospital and later in the
night transferred to the
intensive care unit at
Meilahti Hospital in Helsinki.
During this time the nursing
staff kept his heart beating
by hand for well over four
hours. At Meilahti Hospital he
was connected to a heart-lung
machine and heart operation
was started immediately.
"During the last two
weeks Georg has gone
through several operations on
his heart, abdomen, feet etc.
His body temperature has been
raised slowly up towards
normal, which has brought up
some problems with his right
leg not heating up properly
due to bad frostbites. He has
shown marks of consciousness
throughout last week, and has
been awake for short periods
during the last days, but is
still kept under anaesthesia
and heavy narcosis most of the
time. His heart is now
somewhat working on its own,
but his breathing is still
controlled by a respirator,
and there are also problems
with his kidneys. Apart from a
few broken ribs and a minor
fracture in his jaw, the crash
did not cause notable external
damage. Recent scans have not
shown any signs of brain
damage either, but at this
stage that is still far too
early to speculate on.
"We would like to express
our gratitude for all the kind
words and thoughts you have
posted in our guestbook. Your
concern really means a lot to
us and has given both us and Georg's
family a lot of strenght
during these hard two weeks.
We, together with Georg's
family, wish that you continue
posting your thoughts and
greetings in our guestbook or
on our forum, as all your
posts have been, and will be
in the future as well,
forwarded to the hospital
staff who are reading your
greetings directly for Georg.
We would also like to thank
you all for the extremely
tactful manner in which you
have received these heavy news
not declining to any level of
rumours or speculations. We
will keep you posted on how
things move on again as soon
as there is something new to
tell."
Back in July 2004, Laakso
was stabbed
six times in the back times in
the group's hometown of
Hämeenlinna,
Finland after getting into a
fight with a stranger.
TURISAS' debut album, "Battle
Metal", was released
in July 2004 through Century
Media Records.

from Diecast
blog on Myspace
"To
our Fans and Friends: We
apologize for dropping off the
American Headcharge Tour.
American Headcharge, Indexcase
and Bleed The Sky were the
best tour mates that we could
have asked for. The tour was
going amazingly and our fans
came out in force to support
us. We even made the best of
the only dud of a show in
Cleveland by closing the bar.
Together with the rest of our
tourdmates a few old friends
and Matt and Kevin from
Chimaira, we nearly drank the
place dry. The problem came
the next day on a day off we
had in Nashville. We (Kirk,
Jeremy, Paul & Jon) aren't
really sure what happened. It
all started with an argument
about Brendan Frasiers' acting
skills, (mature huh?) and
ended with a valued member of
the Diecast family (Jason)
sneaking off onto a bus in the
middle of the night without
explanation or warning.
Needless to say we are all
devastated, saddened and
dissapointed. We always
considered Jason to be one of
the nicest guys in the band
and obviously an amazing
musician, phenominal drummer
and most importantly a friend.
We aren't sure why he left,
but when we know more we will
make everyone privy to the
information. The rest of us
would like to apologize to our
Label, our Manager, our
Agents, the rest of the Bands
on the tour and most
importantly our Fans"

CREATION - HATE - DREAM EVIL
|

Malevolent Creation
|
|
MALEVOLENT
CREATION
mainman Phil Fasciana
has rejected as
"wrong" an
announcement on the official
DOWN THE DRAIN
MySpace.com page
that former MALEVOLENT
CREATION and current DOWN
THE DRAIN frontman Brett
Hoffman will be singing
two tracks on MALEVOLENT's
upcoming studio album.
"Brett Hoffman
is not singing any songs on
our new album and either is Jason
Blachowicz," Phil
told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
"Jason has
rejoined the band — yes,
that is true — but he is
playing bass, not singing
(unless some backing vocals
are needed). Brett is
no longer a part of MALEVOLENT
CREATION and hasn't been
for the last five years and
is definitely not recording
with MALEVOLENT CREATION.
All vocals will be performed
by vocalist Kyle Symons
who replaced Hoffman
in late 2000 and has
recorded the last two studio
albums, 'The Will To
Kill' and 'Warkult'
and a live album that was
released earlier this year
titled 'Conquering South
America' and was
recorded in Brazil on the
Brazilian Tour in 2003 and
has no plans of leaving or
being released from the
band. Whoever posted that
information about Brett
and Jason singing on
our new album is an idiot
and it is 100% not
true!!!" The current
recording and live lineup
is:
Kyle Symons –
vocals
Dave Culross –
drums
Jon Rubin – guitars
Jason Blachowicz –
bass
Phil Fasciana –
guitars
MALEVOLENT CREATION
will play the following live
dates in Mexico this coming
December:
Dec. 02 - Aguascalientes,
MEX @ La Caverna
Dec. 03 - Mexico City, MEX @
Circo Volador
Dec. 04 - Puebla, MEX @ La
Ciricua Bar
These will be the last shows
in support of the band's
ninth album, "Warkult".
MALEVOLENT CREATION
are currently writing the
material for their tenth
studio CD, entitled "Doomsday
X", which will be
released spring-summer 2006.
Several European festival
appearances will follow next
summer.

Polish death
mongers HATE
have announced the addition
of guitarist Hellbeast
(photo)
to the group's ranks.
"A young guitarist
known to be a part of some
underground bands such as CHAOSPHERE
and DAMNED turned out
to be the best among those
who came forward,"
reads a press release.
Commented HATE
mainman Adam The First
Sinner: "I confirm Hellbeast
is a new member to the
lineup. The 19-year old has
just outstripped all the
other candidates. I'm really
glad we're a four-piece
again! We're rehearsing a
lot these days to make the
songs as tight as possible.
Soon we'll start playing
concerts promoting 'Anaclasis'.
Our first public appearance
with the new lineup will be
during a special concert at
Proxima Club, Warsaw — a
tribute to Doc —
late VADER's drummer
and our dear friend. We'll
be there to pay him tribute
he deserves and help his
family. Being there is a
must!"
"Anaclasis"
is available now on Listenable

Melechesh
|
|
ABSU's
Proscriptor will not
be collaborating with MELECHESH
on their upcoming album,
according to a press release
from MELECHESH's
record label, Osmose
Productions.
"Proscriptor
and Melechesh will not be
working together on
recording the upcoming Melechesh
album. This was a mutual
decision that had to be
taken due to the geographic
circumstances and
overlapping time schedules.
Proscriptor
has been a member of
Melechesh since 1999 and has
recorded two albums with
them: Djinn
and Sphynx.
Both the
Melechesh members and
Proscriptor had to take this
decision; however, this does
not affect their comradeship
and possibilities for future
cooperation.
“We
have nothing but high
regards for Proscriptor. He
is one of the very few true
artists that I know of, a
dear friend and we
appreciate his talent. But
this cross Atlantic distance
was becoming quite
impractical and limited the
creative inputs of both of
us. I feel confident that we
will cooperate musically
again in one way or another,
but it was simply impossible
to do so for the upcoming
Melechesh album. Should time
permit though, Proscriptor
may provide guest vocals on
the upcoming (4th)
Melechesh album. One thing
is for sure: he certainly
deserves the medal
of honor”
Quoted Melechesh founder Ashmedi
Osmose

Sweden's BURST
have finsihed shooting a video
for "Where the Wave
Broke", the lead-off
track from the bands new
record "Origo".
Drummer Patrik Hultin
comments, "The video
shoot for 'Where the Wave
Broke' was all in all a
great experience. To have
someone outside the band
visualize our music was a new
experience for us. To let go
of a song and let someone else
interpret it gives everything
an entirely new feel, and
judging from the sneek-peeks
we've gotten, the end result
will be stark, intense, and
suggestive. Peter and Kim
[Reinholdsson and Petersen,
repectively, the video
directors/producers of 'Harvest
Light'] and their
dedicated crew really went out
of their way with this."
Exclusive still shots of the
video shoot can be viewed at this
location. The video, the
first from "Origo"
and the band's second overall,
will make its international
debut in November.
"Origo",
which is already drawing
critical acclaim from some of
Europe's leading rock and
metal press, was released in
the U.K. and Europe on October
24 and will see a North
American release on February
7, 2006.
BURST kicks off their
European tour supporting OPETH
on November 27.

Cryptopsy
|
|
When
original CRYPTOPSY
vocalist Lord Worm
recently rejoined the
band, having left the
Canadian death metal act
in 1998, it also marked
the return of one of
metal's most bizarre
frontmen.
"I got my nickname Lord
Worm a long time ago,
before CRYPTOPSY
existed," the
vocalist tells the Swedish
magazine Close-Up.
"In the late '80s, I
used to hang out with a
mysterious guy from
England who was a dark
magician. He always
carried with him a
portable altar, a bunch of
bones, a set of knives,
ampoules containing blood
and a lot of other shit.
We used to have séances
and smoke weird stuff.”
Such as?
"Well, I guess snake
ribs was the weirdest
stuff we smoked. It's
great to smoke, I can tell
you."
You must be joking! I'm
not totally familiar with
the anatomy of a snake,
but surely it doesn't have
ribs?
"Not like human ribs,
a snake's ribs are not as
hard," explains Lord
Worm.
"They're hollow,
that's why they're so good
to smoke. You smoke a rib
rather quickly, but the
effect is quite funny.
It's hard to describe,
it's a special feeling.
"Anyway, when SUFFOCATION
came to Canada for their
first show here in 1993,
we got the support slot
and had to do something
extra to stick out and get
the audience's attention. SUFFOCATION
had become successful with
their album 'Effigy of
the Forgotten' and we
were an insignificant band
who had released just one
demo. With that in mind I
came up with the idea of
having a worm-eating show
on stage.
"At every gig fans
turn up and gather in
front of the stage hoping
to get a little
taste," continues Lord
Worm. "People
wanna eat worm. It's
become a tradition. These
days I always buy the same
amount of worms before a
gig: two dozen. One dozen
for myself and another
dozen for the people in
the first couple of rows.
Sometimes I feel like a
bird mom feeding her
nestlings. If you chew the
worms, they taste fucking
bad. If you swallow them,
it's like eating cold
spaghetti."
On June 16, CRYPTOPSY
drummer Flo Mounier
performed at the Museum Of
Contemporary Canadian Art
in Toronto, Ontario as
part of the "Demons
Stole My Soul – Rock 'n'
Roll Drums In Contemporary
Art" exhibit.
"Among other things,
the visitors got the
opportunity to watch him
play on a drum set made
out of cheese!" says Lord
Worm. "The entire
drum set was made out of
cheese, maybe with the
exception of the cymbals.
I couldn't be there to
watch this historic event.
Perhaps just as well; Flo
later told me that it was
pretty crappy playing the
cheese drum set."

to BLABBERMOUTH.NET

that Ronnie James Dio
will be collaborating with BLACK

"With respect to the

Kataklysm
|
|
Kataklysm
singer Maurizio Iacono
has announced on the
official Kataklysm
forum (http://smnnews.com/board/showthread.php?t=92501)
that the first mp3
from the upcoming album
"In the Arms of
Devastation" will
be premiered
(released) on 1 January
2006!
Maurizio
Iacono also
announced plans to write
the band's autobiography
to coincide with their
15th anniversary.
"I've been thinking
about it for a long time
during the last few
years, especially when
I'm on tour and all the
bandmembers of other
bands are like, 'Dude,
we had no idea about the
shit you guys been
through...'," Iacono
explained. "We
would talk about fun
things and sad things
all night long over
beers and hard liquor,
they would always tell
me, 'Dude, you should
write a book,' and I
always said maybe one
day. So what better time
then now? Next year will
mark the band's 15th
anniversary and I'm damn
proud of what we've
achieved. For some it
ain't much but for me
it's everything, so I
decided to set the
record straight on
EVERYTHING. We've kept
many things to ourselves
over the years, and I
think it will be cool
read. I really got
convinced last week when
mags from Europe were in
town listening to my new
album and then we had a
BBQ at my house. The day
before they left and
again, the same thing:
'Bro, put that shit in a
book! Do it!'... So OK,
fuck it, let's do it. I
talked to Nuclear Blast
about it, they said
let's go for it. So next
year sometime... 'Kataklysm
/ The Northern
Hyperblast: Uncut'
book will be released.
I've been writing for
the past few days and
this is really
exciting... So stay
tuned for more
details."
In other news, KATAKLYSM
have secured the
co-headliner position
for the No Mercy
Festivals tour in
Europe held next March.
Some shows in the Quebec
area are also planned
for December.
KATAKLYSM's new
album, "In the
Arms of
Devastation",
is currently being mixed
in Denmark by acclaimed
producer Tue Madsen.
A February 20, 2006
release via Nuclear
Blast Records is
expected.

Nightwish
|

NIGHTWISH
mainman Tuomas
Holopainen
(keyboards) spoke to the
Finnish News Agency
(STT) about the
group's decision to fire
their lead singer, Tarja
Turunen, following
the final show of their "Once"
world tour, which took
place on Friday, Oct. 21
at Helsinki's Hartwall
arena.
Holopainen told STT
that the "open
letter" on the
band's web site
contained all the
details about the split
with Tarja that
the band wanted to make
public at this time.
"A NIGHTWISH
book will be published
in May. In it, the
reasons for the split
will be examined in more
detail," Holopainen
said.
He added that he and Turunen
had not spoken since the
letter was posted.
"I have not spoken
with Tarja, but
then again we have not
spoken with each other
for many years," he
said.
"We all know that
personal relationships
are the most difficult
thing in the world. All
couples have their
problems, and after all,
there are five of us in
this band."
Tuomas did not
wish to comment on who
the new singer might be.
Holopainen, who
is responsible for most
of the songwriting in NIGHTWISH,
said in the group's open
letter that Turunen
had concentrated on
business at the expense
of music and friendship.
"To you,
unfortunately, business,
money and things that
have nothing to do with
those emotions have
become much more
important," the
letter reads. "You
feel that you have
sacrificed yourself and
your musical career for NIGHTWISH,
rather than thinking
what it has given to
you.
"You have said
yourself that you are
merely a 'guest
musician' in NIGHTWISH.
Now that visit ends and
we will continue NIGHTWISH
with a new female
vocalist."
Turunen has
studied classical
singing at the Sibelius
Academy in Finland and
at the Karsruhe
University of Music in
Germany.

Dio
|

Legendary
heavy metal vocalist Ronnie
James Dio has revealed
during an interview with BBC
Radio 2's "Masters
of Rock" program
that he will once again be
collaborating with BLACK
SABBATH guitarist Tony
Iommi.
"At this particular
point — if all doesn't
fall through, and I doubt
that it will — Tony
Iommi and I are going to
write a couple of tracks
together for a project that
I think is called 'Black
Sabbath – The Dio Years',"
Dio said. "So
that'll be two unreleased
tracks which I'm sure will
be interesting to old SABBATH
fans, and maybe [even] the
new SABBATH
fans."

the "Masters of
Rock" program
featuring Dio, click here
(the above-mentioned quote
can be heard approximately
36 minutes and 10 seconds
into the show — at the

Dio recorded a total
of three studio albums with BLACK
SABBATH — 1980's "Heaven
and Hell", 1981's "Mob
Rules" and 1992's "Dehumanizer"
— in addition to appearing
on the classic live album "Live
Evil" in 1983.
Dio is currently
touring Europe with his solo
band, which currently
includes guitarist Doug
Aldrich (WHITESNAKE)
filling in for an injured Craig
Goldy.

Cryptopsy - Aborted
|
|
Montreal's CRYPTOPSY
hit the road last week with SUFFOCATION,
ABORTED and DESPISED
ICON supporting their
forthcoming October 18
release, "Once Was
Not". Already
requesting live performances
of the yet-to-be-released
songs, fans have been making
the band welcome every
night. "The tour is
going extremely well, all
the bands get along, and
although we have had to
reschedule a couple of dates
due to the hurricanes, the
venues have been
packed!" says the
band's unstoppable drummer Flo
Mounier. "We've
been out hitting hard and
having a great time every
night. It's exciting to talk
to fans who have already
heard some of the new
material, the feedback is
already great."
Commenting on their first
North American tour, ABORTED's
vocalist Sven de Caluwé
said, "After a hard
start, missing the first
couple of shows, it's going
really well. San Antonio and
Houston fans were rabid, and
we are looking forward to
seeing more of you. The guys
in all the bands — CRYPTOPSY,
SUFFOCATION, DESPISED
ICON — are really down
to earth, and it's a great
vibe among us all."
With this year's spring 2005
tour, CRYPTOPSY
reintroduced their committed
fan-base to Lord Worm,
the band's original vocalist
who rejoined the band in
late 2004. "Once Was
Not" demonstrates
the licentious cohesion that
years of touring with
metal's leaders, performing
at prestigious European
festivals, and six
full-length studio releases
have given the band.

Glenn Rambo
|
|
Former
SOILENT
GREEN vocalist Glenn
Rambo was found dead his
mother's home Saturday afternoon
(Oct. 1). "His
ex-girlfriend Stacy and
some National Guardsmen went to Glenn's
mom's house on Guerra Drive in
Violet Louisiana [on Saturday]
because Stacy had not
heard from Glenn since
before [Hurricane
Katrina]," a friend of Glenn's
by the name of Melissa
writes in the posting.
"They discovered the bodies
of Glenn and his mom
still in the house. Glenn
had a broken leg, and he and his
mom had no car to evacuate. If
you know them you probably know
that his family didn't have much
money. I'm not sure where they
are going to bury them, or if
there are any next-of-kin that
could help. Maybe we can all
take up a collection to make
sure that they are buried
properly and have grave markers.
I don't even know how to go
about doing something like that.
It just makes me sad to think
that after we have all lost so
much, we are now finding out
that we have lost good friends
as well. Glenn was an
important part of the [New
Orleans] music scene, and a good
friend to many of us. He will be
dearly missed and fondly
remembered."

|

Akercocke
|
|
Two brand-new AKERCOCKE
tracks, "Verdelet"
and "The Penance",
have been posted online at www.myspace.com/akercocke.
The songs come off the U.K.
black/death metallers' fourth
album, "Words That Go
Unspoken, Deeds That Go
Undone", tentatively
due in early 2006 via Earache
Records.
The follow-up to 2003's "Choronzon",
"Words That Go
Unspoken, Deeds That Go
Undone" was recorded
at the band's own Goat of
Mendes studios in West
London and was mixed by Neil
Kernon (NEVERMORE, CANNIBAL
CORPSE).
Regarding the musical
direction of the new CD, AKERCOCKE
frontman Jason Mendonca
recently had the following to
say: "The new material is
a progression again from 'Choronzon'.
The core AKERCOCKE
elements are there —
harrowing dissonances,
bludgeoning brutality and
cacodaemonic sonic assaults
all feature but once again we
have expanded the AKERCOCKE
sound to include more rich and
diverse textures, not
necessarily bound by the
confines of death and black
metal."
"Words That Go
Unspoken, Deeds That Go
Undone" marks the
recording debut with the group
of new guitarist Matthew
Wilcock, who replaced Paul
Scanlan earlier in the
year.
"Words That Go
Unspoken, Deeds That Go
Undone" tentative

Nasum
|
|
NASUM
drummer Anders Jakobson
has posted the following message
on the group's official web
site:
"Someone asked about the NASUM/NAPALM
DEATH split in the Q & A
section the other day — will
it come out or not?
"Well, I haven't got any
real news about this. As far as
I know it will come out one day,
but when and how I do not know.
No one does; it's another planed
release that's all.
"Last time I spoke about it
with Shane [Embury,
NAPALM DEATH bassist] he
said that he had gotten an OK
from Earache to use their
'Earache songs' on the
split and I guess they have to
get a few more OK's before they
can get working on a possible
tracklist.
"I've spent some time today
working with our part of the
split. I did some adjustments to
the edit I did a few months ago
and also some EQ tweaking to
improve the sound. It sounds
pretty good right now and the
edit has a good flow so overall
it's possible finalized. I might
tweak it some more when it's
time to really finish it.
"The editing I've done is
to exclude some songs that
didn't sound so good due to
either sloppy playing or
problems with the sound. I've
also moved around some of the
songs, which was quite
interesting. We used to combine
our songs in 'blocks' and there
are some completely new blocks
in this edit, which at least
entertains me.
"The tracklist is as
follows:
01. Corrosion
02. Doombringer
03. Just Another Hog
04. Inhale/Exhale
05. Scoop
06. Bullshit
07. Relics
08. Löpandebandsprincipen
09. I Hate People
10. Masshypnosis
11. A Welcome Breeze Of
Stinking Air
12. Fatal Search
13. This is...
14. The Masked Face
15. The Idiot Parade
16. Den Svarta Fanan

Kataklysm
|
|
Guitarist/producer Jean-François
Dagenais of the Canadian death
metallers KATAKLYSM has
issued the following update:
"As most of you know, the
recording sessions for the new KATAKLYSM
album are done, so this time around
I wanna try something different and
get another producer involved with
the album other then myself (I have
produced/mixed the last five KATAKLYSM
releases) and wanna give this
release two different perspectives,
two different feels to it, so we
decided to enlist Tue Madsen
(THE HAUNTED, MNEMIC)
to mix the new album and I think the
combination between both of us will
be lethal! I think this will be the
best thing to do. I've been swamped
with projects from all over Canada
and been working on the KATAKLYSM
album for two months. Having someone
completely fresh to work the last
parts of the album will be great, so
I'll be shipping the record over to Tue
at Antfarm studios in Denmark
very soon. 'In the Arms of
Devastation' will be released
worldwide February 20, 2006 on Nuclear
Blast Records and is guaranteed
to blow your mind!!"
As previously reported, KATAKLYSM's
only scheduled show at this time is
an appearance at the Windy City

Arch Enemy

|
|
ARCH ENEMY have
reluctantly taken the decision to
reschedule their September U.K. shows
until December due to the loss of the
advertised and proposed support bands.
DARK TRANQUILLITY recently pulled
out of the tour, and despite all the
efforts of band, label and management,
it has not been possible to find two
adequate international acts to replace
them at such short notice.
In today's market it is essential to
give fans a great package that offers
value for money, much as the Swedish
Apocalypse show did last Christmas.
It is the band's intention to use the
intervening time to put together a great
lineup that will give the fans more
metal for their money.
All September tickets are 100 percent
valid for the rescheduled December
dates. In London, The Forum show has now
moved to The Astoria where all tickets
will still be valid. The new dates are
as follows:
Dec. 12 - Cardiff, Coal Exchange
Dec. 13 - Wolverhampton, Wulfrun
Dec. 14 - Glasgow, QMU
Dec. 15 - Manchester, Academy 2
Dec. 16 - London, Astoria
The band apologizes for any
inconvenience caused, but nevertheless
feels that rescheduling these dates is
the lesser of two evils.

Draconian

Swedish gothic doom metal
band DRACONIAN have posted the
following message on their official web
site:
"DRACONIAN is about to
record a bonus album this fall. Note
that it's NOT the follow up to 'Arcane
Rain Fell'. The album will feature
three new songs, two or three demo songs
in new versions and three covers. As for
the new songs; we can promise heavy and
truly tearful songs in dark gothic
splendor. Prepare to weep! The working
title is 'The Burning Halo' and
the album will be released through Napalm
Records at the end of the
year."
DRACONIAN's sophomore album, "Arcane
Rain Fell", was released in
January 2005 through Napalm Records.
The follow-up to 2003's "Where
Lovers Mourn" was recorded at Studio
Underground in Västerås, Sweden
and contains more than 60 minutes of
music, including the 16-minute epic "Death,
Come Near Me" (previously
released on the 2002 demo "Dark
Oceans We Cry").

the matter reads as follows:
"Due to very recent developments with
some of the local promoters on the

turned out, some of them decided to pull
out at the last minute, without telling
us. Promises that were made couldn’t be
lived up to, leaving us with two-thirds
left of a very short tour…
"We went into this planning for a 4
to 5 week tour, then that was cut to 2
weeks which really pissed us off, and it
made everything down to the wire
financially. We decided to forge ahead
regardless, hoping to salvage what
remained of the tour and get out to play
for our fans as best we could under the
circumstances. But, when we found out
within a week of getting ready to leave
for this tour that a third of it was
chopped out, we were left with a situation
where we would be losing a lot of money
that we don’t have to come over and do
this tour. Money that unfortunately pays
for us to live and pay rent, etc. — not
money that buys fancy cars or band
therapists.
"We are extremely disappointed to
have to back out of these dates and let
down the fans and the promoters who were
upfront with the band and booking agency,
and we are doing our best to reschedule
something for early next year. This is the
third time this year that our European
plans have fallen through and to say we
are frustrated would be the understatement
of the year. We will be back to bring the
gore to all of you as soon as we can.
"See you in the morgue or at the
bar."
EXHUMED will release their covers
CD, "Garbage Daze
Re-Regurgitated", on September 27
in Europe via an exclusive licensing deal
with Listenable Records.

Kataklysm

|
|
Kataklysm have
completed the recording of the
bands 8th studio album!
Guitarist/Producer J-F
Dagenais comments: "After having
spent 2 months behind the production helm for
the new Kataklysm album, we have now achieved
what we wanted from a to z , i've worked
extremely hard on this record to get it
to sound like no other Kataklysm album
and i must say when you have the time to
work on something it DOES benefit
greatly! I'm really happy with the
results we have , everyone in the band
gave 150% and i cant wait for everyone
to hear this album. I have to agree with
one of Maurizio's previous statement when
he said this album on a technical
side and with its blazing
tempos has been the most difficult album
for me to record my guitar tracks...felt
like at some point my wrist and
fingers were gonna give in!..but it was
well worth the pain!"
The band's 8th studio
album "In The Arms of
Devastation" will be released Feb.
20th 2006, followed by a massive touring
campaign.
In The Arms Of
Devastation track list:
1- Temptation's Nest
2- Let Them Burn
3- Crippled &
Broken
4- Open Scars
5- To Reign again
6- In Words of
Desperation
7- Like Angels weeping
the Dark
8- It turns to Rust
9- The Road to
Devastation
Kataklysm's only
scheduled show for the moment will
be in Chicago, Il on Oct.1st as part of
the "Windy City Invitational"

today news about CALLENISH
CIRCLE - ORDEN OGAN - HIM in Italy
|

Callenish Circle

|
|
Holland
’s most deadly
Death/Thrash formation
Callenish Circle
recently finished the recordings of their
new (and meanwhile 5th) album.
The
new album is titled [
Pitch.Black.Effects ] and it
was recorded at aRe
U Recordings in
Holland
under supervision of producer Gail
Liebling.
The
final mix was done at the well-known Antfarm
Studio in
Denmark
with Tue
Madsen (a.o. The Haunted,
Illdisposed & Mnemic).
Mastering
duties were handled again by
Peter
Neuber
at Mega
Wimp Sound in
Germany
.
Last
but not least the complete artwork was
created by
Danish art talent
Mircea
Gabriel Eftemie at Cadaverman
Media.
Official
statement from guitar player Ron on the
new album:
‘This
time we decided to record, mix and master
the album on different locations. We
recorded the album over here in
Holland
with our long-time (live) sound-engineer
Gail Liebling and the final mix was done
in
Denmark
with Tue Madsen at his Antfarm Studio.
Last but not least the mastering was done
by
Peter
Neuber at Mega Wimp Sound and this turned
out to be a perfect combination. The sound
is absolutely killer ! Gail, who is also
responsible for all digital / wacky sounds
on ‘My Passion // Your Pain’, was also
involved in the writing process now.
Result is that the amount of digital
sounds increased, also being more
integrated in the music, which turned out
great. I think we made a big step forward
regarding production and song writing and
we’re very anxious to hear what the fans
and press think of it".

- Ignorant
- Behind
