VAMPIRE LOVE STORY

1)HY!!! Let us a give a look to the history of the band....

MANDRAGORA SCREAM's project was born in 1997 from an idea by MORGAN LACROIX who in 1999 realized a demo CD "Promo Track 99" in the NEW SIN STUDIOS in Italy .

During the Summer 2000, MANDRAGORA SCREAM (Morgan Lacroix) finally became a Group. Morgan Lacroix & Terry Horn started together their journey and between the years 2000 and 2001 they realized their first album: '"FAIRY TALES FROM HELL'S CAVES" (released by NUCLEAR BLAST).  Fairy Tales is a trip into the Inferno, tormented by passion, anguish and madness, where, taking the place of Virgilio in the exhausted way through the boredom and the marthyrdom in Dante's circles, there is an unusual vampire fairy.

In the year 2002  Mandragora Scream composed the second album “ A Whisper Of Dew” (it will be released in the year 2003 on the 10th of February by NUCLEAR BLAST ). This concept album is based on a vampire story written by Julio Angel Olivares Merino. The new CD will be released together with the book.

The heart of the Gropup is centered on Morgan Lacrioix, singer, musician and author of the Lyrics, and Terry Horn guitarrist, composer, arranger and performer of all the music. Other  unbelievably fascinating musicians in their style get together with them.  Mat Stancioiu on drums & percussions, Jack  Lowell Halleyn on keyboards .

Centered into the passion for the particular music, MANDRAGORA SCREAM finally built up its stronghold. The Group devotes itself to the research of magic motives and ancient tales that accompany them in their journey towards the most bewitched lands, keeping as fixed purpose the passion and the aim of taking the listener inside always more ancient and chivalrous atmospheres.

The line up:

Morgan Lacroix:  lead vocal

Terry Horn:  guitar & vocal

Krysalis: guitar

Jack Lowell Halleyn: keyboards

 Mat Stancioiu: drums

 2) Your first album is very good, but i have  to say, that the sound is not very hard ...guitars are very soft and the same thing we could say about the rhythmic session...sometimes i think that your sound may be suitable also for not only Metal-fans...is it true?

Fairy Tales was born as a concept musically based on atmospheres; we tried to represent a trip through Dante's hell and the best way for us to do it was to make the arrangements take the listener by the hand through a sort of hypnotic and introspective voyage. Our music is intended to reach the very heart and soul of anyone who would like to listen to it.

3)Mandragora Scream is actually an important band in the current Italian Goth scene...is it possible that Italy can become the new Gothic land, from the moment that Italy has “generated” bands like Lacuna Coil, Evenfall, Room with a View, among others…

I don't know exactly, because I don't think Italy can be a source for gothic inspirations, at least not for us. We often take our inspiration from Scotland .

4)Tell me about the new album.....

The new album is a concept based on a vampire love story which was specially written for us by Julio Angel Olivares Merino; it would be almost impossible to explain the whole story because it's so rich in essential details that the very magic of the story would be lost without them.

5)Which bands you think may represent an important influence for Mandragora Scream?

Any music is a source of inspiration, but no specific band plays a key role in our compositions.

6)Do you think to promote this new album with an European tour? If yes which countries do you think will be included?

We will surely perform in many festivals all over Europe ; we are waiting to know the dates of the tour, but we have no exact details yet.

7)Mandragora Scream have a very good artwork...how much importance do you  give to the artwork ?

A lot, because it has to exactly bring out what we feel inside and we always try to make our best to get this result even with strong contrasts if necessary.

8)Tell me something about the production of your last cd...

We had been working for a few months for this album, but when Mat Stancioiu joined the band we changes some things, so we can say that the final work was done in two months and a half. It was recorded at the New Sin Studio in Italy and we are very satisfied with it, although we decided that the next CD will be mastered in the US .

9) Which is the base for the inspiration of  your music? I don’t mean other  bands now...I  say rather about  sensations... sadness...melancholy...

We are inspired by Scottish gothic magic, by enchanted woods and by the endless fantasy within our souls.

10) Now a technical question........regarding the guitars......for all guitar players and freaks !!! On stage which kind of effects guitar use? And what do you think about seven strings guitar?

We can't possibly disclose the secrets of our special effects, come and see us live and guess by yourselves…ha, ha! I was just kidding…it's really important to have a good basic sound, that's the only way for an effect to work properly. To make an example, Terry uses Paul Red Smith and B.C. Rich guitars with Mesa Boogie amplifiers.

11) Music and PC....what do you think??

I think the PC is an excellent tool to store and organise data. Music, which is the real life blood of human essence has always existed and will live on forever even without PCs.

12)As my last question I propose our usual and typical Gryphonmetal last question... we call this question 'The game of the Tower'. There is a very high tower and on the tower three bands are waiting for you and you have to push down two of them letting them fall,   saving the third one. For you there are:

LACUNA COIL      THE GATHERING       THEATRE OF TRAGEDY

Which one would you save?

We would save the Theatre Of Tragedy because we've been enjoying their music for many years.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
